We are looking for a Maintenance Superintendent to join Kaiser Aluminum Operations in Newark, Ohio!


The Maintenance Superintendent is responsible to Lead and Manage the safe and efficient execution of maintenance work through the Maintenance Supervisors (Shift Mgrs) and hourly employees. Maintenance work that consists of emergency breakdowns, corrective work, and PMs through our CMMS system along with our Maintenance Process.


What you will do:


  • Ensure the safety of all maintenance employees; lead a comprehensive safety program to prevent injuries. Aggressively investigate safety incidents and complete corrective actions.
  • Comply with all federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations (EPA, OSHA, etc.).
  • Manage safety contacts/learning and required maintenance employee training.
  • Lead and manage the day to day execution of planned and emergency maintenance work in a 24/7 operation through the management of the Maintenance Shift Supervisors and hourly maintenance employees.
  • Directly manage maintenance shop machinists, fabricators, truck garage employees and janitors through their activities.
  • Play a major active role in unplanned major breakdowns.
  • Schedule weekly Maintenance Work Activates through the Work Order process to meet production and customer demand.
  • Directly execute current maintenance processes based on Reliability best practices using our CMMS system (Maximo).
  • Provide trouble shooting support and guidance on mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Collaborates with Operations Superintendents and Supervisors, Maintenance Planners, and Engineering for both day to day assignments and maintenance project work.
  • Meet or exceed plant productivity, cost, or other performance metric expectations as outlined by plant manager.
  • Providing coaching, counseling, or discipline as needed. Work with HR to address employee concerns, issues and grievances.
  • Be able to adapt and respond effectively to changing priorities in an intense manufacturing environment.



About you:


  • At least 5 years of experience in a maintenance supervisor or manager role that has successfully led the department.
  • 5 years of people leadership experience in a maintenance manufacturing environment programs.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience.
  • Heavy to light manufacturing maintenance experience-including machining, fabrication, pipe fitting, mobile equipment, and electrical.
  • Knowledge and experience with Implementing equipment reliability practices and procedures.
  • Centralize Maintenance Management System (CMMS)- Maximo Preferred
  • Strong PC skills, including Windows, Word, and Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to work in teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience in a Union environment
