Brunel is currently searching for a Purchasing Manager for direct hire with a global automotive supplier located just South of Cleveland, Ohio.
In this role you will be responsible to lead a team of seven; Project Buyers, Operations Buyers, Junior Buyers, and an assistant. If you re a hands-on leader who loves to grow a junior team to a higher level, this is a perfect position for you. This role will be client facing and we are looking for someone with an entrepreneurial spirit who wears their cost savings hat daily.
Duties include but not limited to:
- Manage annual cost reductions through supplier negotiation and resourcing
- Develop and implement a global and local purchasing strategy in correspondence with your worldwide colleagues
- Select and develop the supply base, including new supplier selection and supplier reduction
- Manage vendor relationships and assist in building sustainable partnerships
- Negotiate, report, and renew supplier contracts (support from Managing Director and corporate)
- Coordinate and follow up the raw material agreements with the supply base
- Look for and create opportunities in the sourcing market
- Keep competitive advantages by continuously exploring and bench marking new processes, technologies, and business model
- Lead or support cross departmental projects
- Responsible for target setting both from a technical and commercial point of view
- Implement and maintain 5S
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree, Masters preferred
- Minimum of 5 years experience in purchasing, project buyer experience
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a leadership/mentoring role. Looking for strong people manager/trainer able to grow team s skills.
- Must have experience in the automotive supplier industry and understand the fast paced environment
- Knowledge of quality standards (ISO 9001, T16949, ISO 14001
- Strong analytical and organization skills with advanced skills in MS Office
- Fluent in English with excellent communication skills to be client facing
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S. for any employer without sponsorship now or in the future
- Must be willing to work in office.
- Potential for short business trips a couple times a year
