Litigation Attorney


Job Details

We are seeking an experienced Litigation Attorney to join our in-house legal team. As an In-House Litigation Attorney, you will be responsible for representing our organization in civil cases, ensuring that our legal rights are protected, and advocating for favorable outcomes. You ll collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, manage litigation matters, and provide strategic legal advice. In addition, you will assist with other legal matters handled by the team, including commercial transactions and compliance matters.



Required Certifications and Training

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • Active Bar Membership in at least one U.S. state and the ability to have active bar membership in Utah
  • 3+ years' experience in litigation experience including responding to discovery requests, prepping witnesses and taking/defending depositions, and drafting pleadings
  • Maintains bar license by completing required CLEs and submitting bar dues on time
  • Ability to assess complex legal issues and provide practical solutions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work well with cross-functional teams
  • Comfortable handling a variety of legal matters
  • Uphold the highest ethical standards in all legal activities
  • Contracts: Drafted, negotiated, and litigated contracts


Experience Level with Business Tools

Proficient in utilizing business tools: E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint

Experience with matter management and productivity software desired


Knowledge

  • Case Management: Handle a diverse range of litigation and investigation matters, including contract disputes and employment issues.
  • Litigation Strategy: Develop effective litigation strategies, including early case assessment to protect the company s interests.
  • Risk Assessment: Evaluate potential legal risks and provide proactive advice to mitigate them.
  • Drafting and Review: Prepare legal documents, including correspondence, pleadings, motions, briefs, and negotiate settlement and other agreements.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal departments, external counsel, and other stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Legal Review: Conduct thorough legal research to build strong cases and stay informed about relevant laws and regulations.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with legal requirements and ethical standards.
  • Reporting: Keep management informed about significant developments in ongoing litigation.
  • Commercial Transactions: Assist with negotiating commercial transactions, as needed.
  • Other: Assist with other substantive legal matters such as internal investigations, compliance matters, or other areas, as needed.
