Job Details

The Associate Fashion Designer, Luxletics is responsible for the design and development of womens Luxletics styles consistent with the marketing positioning of Lilly Pulitzer. This is done under the direction of the Fashion Design Manager, Luxletics. The goal of all product is to delight the consumer, which is measured by sales. As part of the overall duties, there are six major areas of responsibility:

* Understand the Lilly Pulitzer customer, lifestyle and positioning in the marketplace.

* Research trends in activewear and fashion as a whole, translating them into designs that delight the Lilly Pulitzer customer, increase full price net sales, have high full price retail sell through and contribute to the profitable growth of the company.

* Identify product development and product innovation opportunities for Luxletics.

* Protect and build the core business by analyzing sales and designing updates as needed.

* Maintain all styles in Centric and seasonal layouts by delivery in Illustrator and XD.

* Perform other duties as required by design and maintain all activities consistent with the product development calendar.

The six primary responsibilities are outlined below. Understand the Lilly Pulitzer Customer, Lifestyle and Positioning in the Marketplace.

* Lilly Pulitzer is a lifestyle branded fashion company in the apparel, accessories and footwear business, serving the needs of the affluent customer at ease. The companys brand positioning is Lillys Resort Chic. Key competitive advantages for Lilly Pulitzer are print, authentic resort, optimism and a multi-generational consumer.

* Know and appreciate the Lilly Pulitzer customer. This includes understanding the taste, fashion and lifestyle preferences and characteristics of the customer. Recognize why the customer purchases Lilly Pulitzer merchandise instead of competing products. Translate this into products that delight the customer and sell effectively.

* Visit locations where the Lilly Pulitzer customer lives the lifestyle and shops for Lilly Pulitzer merchandise.

* Spend sufficient time in retail stores and on-line to understand the customer and the activewear marketplace. Visit Lilly Pulitzer stores; understand what is selling at retail, and competitive trends.

Research trends in activewear and fashion as a whole, translating them into designs that delight the Lilly Pulitzer customer, increase full price net sales, have high full price retail sell though and contribute to the profitable growth of the company.

* Develop innovative activewear, golf and tennis designs that delight the Lilly Pulitzer customer.

* Shop and research competitors, the high-end designer market and industry trade shows to stay current with all trends in the Luxletics, golf and tennis markets.

* Stay current with performance technology in fabrications and silhouettes that are appropriate for the active, golf and tennis markets.

* Measures of doing this will include increases in full price net sales, high full price retail sell through and designs that contribute to the profitable growth of the company.

* Merchandise that contributes to the profitable growth of the company is merchandise that meets margin goals and has high sell retail sell through to grow the business.

Identify product development and product innovation opportunities for Luxletics.

* Research innovation in fabric and trim that may affect future design development.

* Competitive shopping is necessary to know what is on trend and new to the market.

* Recommend new fabrications, finishes, trims and treatments based on the research.

Maintain all styles in Centric and seasonal layouts by delivery in Illustrator.

* Every style in the line assortment needs to be entered and maintained in Centric.

* Each style in the line needs to have a proper Bill of Materials created and be passed off to Technical Design and Product Development each season.

* After seasonal Proto Review meetings and Sales Sample Review Meetings, Centric needs to be updated accordingly.

* Multi-Seasonal layouts should be created in Illustrator and updated as necessary, denoting chase, online exclusives, legging rises and lengths.

Perform other duties as required by design and maintain all activities consistent with the product development calendar.

* Operate within company product development calendar to meet outlined goals and deadlines.

* Understand the importance of functional design details to increase the value of Lilly Pulitzer Luxletics product.

* Understand construction and trim applications appropriate for each active style and work with Product Development to achieve the vision of the product in a cost-effective manner that meets seasonal margin goals.

* Assist in fit comment follow-up with Product Development and Technical Design with complete details for executing quality garments.

* Organize information and files for efficient management of the department.

* Communicate daily with team members as appropriate to foster an open communication flow with attention to detail to achieve market superior product.

* Perform other duties as may be required.

**SKILLS REQUIRED TO PERFORM SUCCESSFULLY:**

* The taste level and fashion sense to understand the Lilly Pulitzer customer and to design fashion merchandise which appeals to the Lilly customer.

* Genuine excitement for the Lilly Pulitzer concept. The Associate Fashion Designer, Luxletics must share the vision for the activewear merchandise, consistent with the positioning in the marketplace.

* A fashion point of view and attitude which are appropriate for Lilly Pulitzer.

* Proficient skills in silhouette and artwork development.

* Familiarity with active specific fabrications, trims and treatments.

* Understanding of how print, patterns and color translate into apparel.

* Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop is required. The Associate Fashion Designer, Luxletics must develop fluency in current software and all their capabilities; training will be provided as needed.

* The Associate Fashion Designer, Luxletics must have the aptitude and willingness to learn new applications of Computer Aided Design which may be implemented.

* Basic personal computer skills, such as Word and Excel in a Microsoft Windows environment, are helpful.

* The sense of urgency necessary in the apparel industry.

* Strong organizational skills and detail oriented mindset.

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:**

* A four-year college degree is required. This must be in fashion design or a closely related subject.

* 3-5 years of prior experience in a fashion design position. Experience in womens activewear is preferred, including golf and tennis apparel.

**MISCELLANEOUS:**

* This position is classified as full-time salaried; it is exempt and is not eligible for overtime. This position is eligible for standard company benefits.

* The position requires some domestic travel to Palm Beach and New York as appropriate.

* Given the seasonality of the business, this position may require flexible, additional working hours during peak periods.

* This position is based in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.

* This position is reviewed annually.
