**Position:** **Shipping and Receiving Clerk**

**Position Reports to the Shipping Manager**

**Location: Chicago, IL (Lincoln Park)**

The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for day-to-day receiving, shipping, and maintenance of inventory. The role is also responsible for performing inventory counts as directed and improving internal communication with the Warehouse and Purchasing Manager in relation to current inventory, received inventory and inventory being shipped.

**Responsibilities**

Day-to-day receipt of inventory

Verifies items received by checking the identifying information of items received

Inspects condition of items received. Broken or damaged items must be reported to the Inventory Manager and Purchasing Buyers

Compares count/measure of items to purchase order and packing list

Signs packing list (or receiving form) acknowledging the receipt of the items

Enters received inventory into the computer system

Places inventory in stock or in customer pick up depending on the purchase order

Maintains inventory in an orderly and organized fashion as directed by the Inventory Manager

Maintains Inventory level and informs manager when quantities are low

Makes sure all inventory movement is supported by an appropriate inventory document, i.e., pull ticket, inventory transfer form, shipping instructions, etc.

Coordinates with Inventory Manager and Customer Service the delivery of goods to customers. Makes sure goods in stock are provided promptly to customers who are picking up their purchases

Prepares shipping/delivery forms as instructed. Physically puts inventory to be shipped or delivered into boxes in a manner where breakage will not occur

Makes sure inventory movement is entered into the computer system, as directed by the Inventory Manager

Inspects inventory for wear and defects. Recommends solutions for damaged inventory - whether to have repaired or returned to vendor

Takes a physical inventory as directed by the Inventory Manager, including cable, accessories, and bulbs. Counts must be accurate

Restricts access to inventory to authorized personnel only (i.e., shipping, receiving and delivery personnel only -- sales personnel are not allowed access to the inventory)

Contributes to the team effort by assisting others as needed. Performs other tasks and duties as assigned

Requirements

* Minimum 1 year of shipping, receiving and warehouse experience.

* Factory-specific experience a plus.

* Must have experience using pallet trucks and lifts.

* Must be able to lift 30+ lbs.

* High school diploma or GED required.

* Able to read and understand English.

* Able to conduct work while standing for 8 hours a day.
