Regional Controller


Job Details

A privately-owned company managing and operating golf and luxury resort properties in Southern California to join their team in Rancho Bernardo. This is an on-site position. The Regional Controller will oversee financial and accounting matters for Rancho Bernardo Inn and Surf & Sand Resort. They will delegate projects and responsibilities to hotel and golf controllers and directly manage the performance of the resort and golf properties' accounting departments. Additionally, they will collaborate with the Corporate Controller, General Managers, and other corporate office personnel on special projects and due diligence procedures.


Responsibilities:


  • Provide timely and accurate financial information and analysis to executive management, including internal control environment oversight at each property.
  • Supervise the payroll department, ensuring all payments are timely and accurate.
  • Manage cash flow generated by Accounts Payable and Receivable, including authorizing payments and ensuring timely bill collection.
  • Establish and ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and controls for all resort and golf accounting, payroll, and night audit reporting, budgeting, and forecasting functions, ensuring asset safeguarding and compliance with GAAP and the Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, support, review, discipline, and terminate employees directly accountable to this position to maintain the highest levels of employee morale and department productivity.


The ideal candidate will have:


  1. At least 10 years of experience in accounting and finance.
  2. Significant experience in the full-service (multiple outlet/restaurant/golf/Spa) hotel industry, preferably within a luxury setting.
  3. At least 5 years of supervisory experience in diverse accounting roles, including oversight of staff, junior, and senior accountants, management of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, conducting audits, and managing payroll.
  4. A comprehensive understanding of payroll processes, especially in relation to California Payrate regulations.
  5. Experience with 3rd party management, particularly in transitioning new properties from other managers or owners to our system.
  6. Possession of a valid driver's license and the ability to drive (San Diego and Surf and Sand resorts)


Education: Bachelor s degree in Finance/Accounting or related fields. Certification (Preferred): CPA
