Job Description: Buyer's Assistant

Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Buyer's Assistant to join our purchasing team. The Buyer's Assistant will play a key role in supporting the buyer in various aspects of the procurement process, including vendor communication, product research, inventory management, and order processing. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in gaining experience in retail buying and merchandising.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the buyer in researching and identifying new products, trends, and vendors.
  2. Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, invoices, and vendor communications.
  3. Coordinate with vendors to ensure timely delivery of merchandise and resolve any issues or discrepancies.
  4. Monitor inventory levels and assist in forecasting demand to optimize stock levels.
  5. Collaborate with the merchandising team to create product assortments and planograms.
  6. Assist in analyzing sales data, market trends, and competitor activities to make informed buying decisions.
  7. Prepare and update reports, spreadsheets, and presentations related to purchasing and inventory management.
  8. Support the buyer in negotiating pricing, terms, and contracts with vendors to achieve cost-effective purchases.
  9. Assist in the development and execution of promotional campaigns and markdown strategies.
  10. Maintain a strong understanding of the retail industry, customer preferences, and product categories.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, retail management, or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in retail, purchasing, or merchandising is a plus.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for vendor interactions and internal collaboration.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of retail math and inventory management principles is beneficial.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to changing priorities and business needs.
