**Description**

**The Food Service Worker is responsible for performing food service and custodial related duties, minor maintenance, and other miscellaneous duties in order to ensure that the facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe and sanitary manner.**

**Role and Responsibilities**

* Full Time and Part Time positions available (20-40 hours per week)

* Uses customer service skills, to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and all members of the general public

* Responsible for the security of designated locations

* Open and closes, locks and unlocks facilities as needed

* Keeps records of work completed

* Responsible for the collection of recycle bins located throughout the facility and distributed to the recycling center

* Attendance at work is an essential function of this position

* Performs food service and custodial duties

* Performs other duties as assigned

**The Mess Attendants work various stations:**

* Beverage Stations Set up, maintain/replenish, keep clean and break down

* Salad Bar Set up, maintain/replenish, keep clean and break down

* Dining Room Keep tables clean and sanitized, fill dessert cases, vacuum carpets and sweep floor

* Scullery Set up dish machine, intake trays, silverware, plates and cups, scrape plates clean and run through machine

* Pan room Set up machine, clean, wash, and sanitize pans. Break down and clean machines. Clean floors.

* Serving lines Set up , replenish and maintain serving lines. Serve meals.

**Clean and care for building and facilities in order to ensure they are maintained in a safe and healthy manner.**

**Main Activities:**

* Mop tile and concrete floor areas

* Vacuum all carpeted areas

* Dust all furniture and fixtures as required

* Wash and disinfect all washroom floors, toilets, toilet seats, hand dryers and fixtures

* Clean all mirrors

* Replenish toilet tissue and soap as needed

* Empty all waste baskets and garbage cans

* Place garbage in outside storage bin

* Clean entrance and exit including glass, doors and hardware

* Cleans all required food services spaces, serving lines, food service display cases, food dispensers, food service equipment, cleaning equipment, and all other areas required in the contract

* Wash all finger marks from walls, doors, hardware and glass

* Clean break room sinks and counters

**Essential Job Functions**

* Perform all custodial and kitchen duties.

* Ensure that all food operations are in compliance and following all safety procedures.

* The ability to follow directions closely

Ability to read and understand labels and instructions, particularly on the use and application of chemicals and products

Knowledge of the use of Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)

Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, products and equipment
