Summary

As a direct report to the Director of Supply Chain, the Supply Chain Procurement Manager will lead a team of category buyers and shop administrators. This role entails overseeing all procurement and sourcing activities for parts, products and services across fleet, heavy equipment, and corporate purchases. Key responsibilities include facilitating training and development initiatives within the procurement team and internal customers (requesters, end users and other). This involves providing guidance and fostering support, imparting negotiation skills, optimizing supplier management practices, refining sourcing strategies, and streamlining processes to align with the company's objectives.

Job Description

  • Efficiently manage all spend within the respective cost centers, ensuring optimal allocation of resources across maintenance, operations, administrative and capital expenditure (CAPEX) categories.
  • Identify and recommend suppliers that align with the Company's service and pricing needs.
  • Foster strong business relationships while continuously seeking new supply partners to enhance service and cost efficiencies.
  • Lead and develop procurement personnel to assist with monitoring stock, critical parts, forecasting, obtaining the best price, extended payment terms, freight terms, managing backorder or parts with long lead times, discontinued parts, and sourcing.
  • Implement best practices for competitive bidding process and price analysis.
  • Draft policies, procedures and guidance documents.
  • Responsible for managing all purchasing agreements.
  • Recommend and implement approved costs reduction strategies while maintaining high-quality standards for fleet parts and services.
  • Ensure adherence to established policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a strong relationship with cross functional teams and maintain partnerships with internal customers.
  • Manage open requisitions and purchase orders, ensuring timely and accurate placement of orders based on need and demand forecast.
  • Collaborate with Fleet Maintenance & Operations to ensure purchased parts meet quality standards and optimize stock levels to minimize carrying costs.
  • Stay updated on market trends, pricing, and industry developments to make informed procurement recommendations and decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations related to procurement and supply chain activities.
  • Establish a supplier performance program, monitor supplier performance/progress and provide feedback to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Generate and create regular reports on procurement activities, cost savings, supplier performance for management review.
  • Manage parts; returns, warranty recovery and core exchange tracking and reporting.
  • Participate in routine inventory and procurement audits to maintain accuracy and compliance.
  • Recommend process improvements.
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a buyer or purchasing agent, with a demonstrated track record in procurement or supply chain management including a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or team leadership role. Experience in truck parts or in a similar industry is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement and sourcing processes, strategies, and best practices.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to drive favorable outcomes.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in contract management and supplier relationship management.
  • Knowledge of procurement best practices, including competitive bidding and price analysis.
  • Experience with inventory management systems, procurement software solutions, Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook).
  • Strong ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal service skills
