Our client is a growing family-owned packaging manufacturing company in the Lehigh Valley, PA, supplying distributors and brokers throughout the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions. They focus on three core values: consistent quality, competitive pricing, and exceptional customer service.
The company produces eco-friendly and economical single-use foam, paper, and plastic plates, cups, food trays and other Food Service items, with emphasis on green and sustainable manufacturing.
They are seeking a Purchasing Manager with 5 to 10 years of experience in direct procurement and monitoring of trends in paper and plastic. This person will be responsible for overall management of spending for the organization and will report to the Director of Supply Chain.
This role requires a team player and self-starter. Compensation is commensurate with experience, with a target in the $100K range.
Key duties:
- Give procurement direction to Plant Purchasers, and drive cost reduction at both sites.
- Review and report monthly inventory and budget variances, taking corrective action as needed.
- Monitor global sourcing and pricing trends, market and financial insights, and future forecasts of paper and various plastics including polystyrene, polyester, and polypropylene.
- Develop and execute a strategy for the company s raw materials that includes cost savings and helps ensure that the finished products remain economical.
- Conduct supplier and new vendor negotiations, establishing competitive alternate sources of supply.
- Drive supplier key performance indicators on cost, service, and quality.
Key qualifications:
- 5 10 years purchasing experience in paper and/ or plastics packaging.
- Prior experience in disposable foodservice packaging containers is a big plus.
- BS, preferable in a technical field or supply chain management.
- Ability to manage and motivate employees and direct reports.
