Anamosa office PSR. Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.

POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY: The Patient Services Representative position is responsible for managing patient appointments, patient information and payment processing through accurate and timely data entry. This position also provides clerical support for all ASAC staff including prevention, treatment and recovery services.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide excellent customer service; greet all incoming patients/visitors and notify appropriate staff person of their arrival
  • Allocate calls to appropriate department and/or staff member
  • Schedule patient appointments utilizing organizational standards
  • Manage appointment schedules to ensure timely patient flow and accurate reporting
  • Collect all required patient information necessary to ensure accurate demographic entry
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits to ensure accurate and timely remittance
  • Verify and inform patient of program eligibility through State and organizational opportunities (Sliding Fee scale)
  • Inform patient of financial responsibility
  • Assist patient by providing payment plan options as provided by management
  • Manage patient communication and correspondence (phone, fax, mail, letter, text)
  • Confirm scheduled patient appointments
  • Verify active insurance referral and/or authorization prior to services rendered
  • Collect patient payments
  • Ensure accurate and timely information exchange with clinical department
  • Reconcile cash drawer to ensure accuracy
  • Collect data for routine reporting
  • Assists in maintaining patient closed file record system
  • Travel as required to attend meetings and trainings
  • Accomplish projects as a team member or individual as assigned
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of copy room, supply room, front desk area and lounge


Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of:
    • Basic Currency exchange
    • Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet
  • Ability to:
    • Follow-through, assume responsibility and use good judgment
    • Maintain professionalism under stressful situations
    • Communicate effectively and diplomatically with patients, external insurance and contracting entities and facility personnel both orally and in writing
  • Experience:This position consists of frequent sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time
    • Minimum of a High school diploma or GED
    • Type accurately 45-50 wpm.
    • Working with multi-line telephone system, copier/fax machine, data entry
    • Ability to file accurately
    • Ability to work daily utilizing standard office equipment
    • Ability to use computer system, software and work well with technology
    • Ability to use independent judgment, analytical/decision-making skills, verbal and written communication skills, human relations skills, team working skills, and organizational skills
