Battery Pack Design Lead

We are looking for someone to join a dynamic team at the heart of innovation, dedicated to designing state-of-the-art battery systems for the next generation of electric vehicles.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design Leadership: Oversee the architectural design and integration of high-voltage, lithium-ion battery packs set for mass production.
  • Collaborative Engineering: Facilitate cross-functional teamwork with subsystem owners to ensure cohesive design and assembly readiness for high-volume production.
  • Integration Management: Work with external vehicle teams to allocate optimal packaging space for battery packs.


What You ll Do:

  • Conduct and lead the Advanced Battery Pack Integration Meeting; manage the battery pack assembly CAD model.
  • Perform technical trade-off studies within the battery pack and support external teams with related analyses.
  • Delegate tasks to subsystem teams to refine battery pack design, meeting program requirements and deadlines.
  • Collaborate with Vehicle Compartment Integration Teams for space allocation and CAE analysis preparation.
  • Utilize Virtual Design, Development, & Validation (VDDV) tools to evaluate battery pack performance against program requirements.
  • Ensure design consistency with Bill-of-Design & Bill-of-Materials strategies in partnership with Battery Pack Technical Specialists.
  • Provide leadership updates and presentations on battery pack design progress.
  • Deliver a battery pack design solution during the Balance Architecture Development Phase, confirming performance and packaging requirements.
  • Offer consulting support to Battery Execution Teams post-design phase, as the battery pack moves to production.
  • Engage in continuous benchmarking to integrate innovative technologies for electric vehicles.
  • Protect intellectual property by contributing to Records of Invention (ROI) submissions.


Skills & Experience

Essential -

  • Over five years of professional involvement in the design of intricate product systems.
  • A Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Proven track record of leading multifaceted technical projects with diverse teams.
  • Proven competence in clarifying vague issues and devising concrete strategies for effective solutions.
  • Established history of making informed technical decisions based on fundamental engineering principles.
  • A consistent display of innovative thinking to overcome complex challenges.
  • Proficiency in designing and overseeing the development of components and assemblies using CAD software, with a preference for Unigraphics NX.


Desirable -

  • At least two years of experience in the design of battery packs.
  • Background in designing mechanical, thermal, electrical, and fluid systems.
  • Direct experience with high-voltage battery systems.
  • DFSS Black Belt Certification.
  • Experience in guiding products from the initial concept or prototype stage through to full-scale production.
