Grinder Operator - 1st Shift ahh

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may expand to include

other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary form time to

time.

1. Identify the color and type of plastic scrap received, then move, organize and store

material in preparation for the grinding process.

2. Inspect incoming gaylord boxes and liners for the presence of foreign objects and

unlike plastics that could damage the scrap grinder cutters or contaminate finished

product.

3. Prepare gaylord boxes with plastic liners and stage empty box at grinder output.

4. Operate grinder by engaging machine, loading scrap material, monitoring machine

performance and retrieving processed plastic.

5. Mark each incoming and outgoing filled gaylord box using a tag that identifies the

type of plastic and other required properties.

6. Enter written words and numbers in neat and legible handwriting on identification

tags and other required inventory and production forms.

7. Transport gaylord boxes and other materials using forklift trucks or hand pallet

trucks while following safe operating procedures and observing for pedestrian

traffic.

8. Place gaylord boxes, pallets and other supplies in a manner as to not block or

interfere with isles, exits, or walkways.

9. Maintain clean work and storage areas and follow good housekeeping procedures.

10.Comply with all occupational and food safety policies and work rules, and maintain

forklift certification.

Job Specifications and Requirements

1. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and

memos.

2. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to other

employees.

3. Ability to recognize and identify colors, surface textures, and clear or opaque

properties.

4. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole

numbers, common fractions, and decimals and the ability to read a tape measure

in inches.

5. Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions

communicated in written, oral, or diagram form.

6. Ability to operate scrap grinder after receiving training on the machine's safe and

proper operation.

7. Ability to achieve or maintain forklift truck operating certification.

8. Requires the ability to operate hand pallet truck and various small hand tools.

9. Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
