Manager, Anatomic Pathology Laboratory


Job Details

Anatomic Pathology Laboratory Manager plans, organizes, and directs the overall operation of the Anatomical Pathology Laboratory. Assists with budget preparation, monitoring of revenue, expenses, test volume, FTE utilization, report/result turnaround, as well as workflow, and customer/employee satisfaction; plans and manages technology innovations, new facility design and implementation, new business, laboratory expansion, focus on service, maintains compliance with State, Federal, CAP and other accreditation agencies regulations, in adherence to departmental and company policies and procedures and promote the company s mission and values across the integrated laboratory network.


You Will:

  • Collaborate with Anatomic Laboratory Director, Laboratory Medical Director, Laboratory Leadership, and other AP Laboratory staff to suggest test methodologies and instrumentation appropriate for clinical use
  • Grow and develop staff to increase overall knowledge base
  • Create a culture of operational and continuous quality improvement
  • Manage conflict and identify problems to arrive at constructive solutions while maintaining positive working relationships
  • Participate with the selection, validation, and implementation of new test platforms
  • Oversee the technical and operational aspects of the Laboratory
  • Support the development and delivery of laboratory service collaterals
  • Communicate to Management updates of departmental action items on a regular basis
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable Federal, State, CAP, and other accreditation agencies regulations
  • Establish and implement metrics, policies, objectives, procedures for departments and reports on results and outcomes
  • Ensure that CQI efforts in conjunction with the Quality Officer complies with regulatory and accreditation standards
  • Coordinate, support, and monitor laboratory departments with major focus on improving the operations to run seamlessly to ensure quality patient care
  • Assist in the development of budgets including recommendations for major equipment purchases
  • Assist in the development of facility designs and remodels
  • Develop and implement strategic plans in alignment with the company s values and mission
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

Education/Certifications

  • Bachelor s Degree in Histotechnology, Cytotechnology, or other science-related field, or equivalent; Master s degree preferred
  • HT/HTL, PA, CT ASCP certification required or equivalent

Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum five (5) years experience in the laboratory, similar environment (anatomical)
  • Minimum three (3) or more years supervisory experience, preferred
  • Knowledge of Quality Improvement programs, processes, and tools
  • Ability to work with individuals at all organizational levels, particularly peers, team members, Pathologists, and other departments
  • Knowledge of project planning, budgeting, human resources management, and report development
  • Prior experience validating and implementing new tests and technologies
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, interpersonal and public speaking skills: self-directed, open to new learning experiences and demonstrate teamwork
