SUMMARY

As the Materials Supervisor, you will operate in a safe, yet an extremely high paced, fluid environment. At the core, you must have the ability to safely optimize people and technology while ensuring quality in everything we do. You are responsible for the daily oversight of operations of the Materials employees and to ensure compliance with all company policies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Directs receiving, shipping and line service personnel to function within a lean manufacturing environment
  • Manages the overall warehouse deliverables including staff performance and goals (quality, safety, cost, delivery, productivity, people/morale)
  • Establishes and modifies daily work assignments and schedules considering operational needs
  • Operate within boundaries of a prescribed budget (i.e. IDL, supplies, etc.)
  • Monitors processes for inbound and outbound deliveries to ensure compliance with established guidelines.
  • Utilize 3PL providers portal and tools to manage the day-to-day operations
  • Monitors processes for inbound and outbound deliveries to ensure compliance with established guidelines.
  • Assure compliance to and encourage employee involvement in EHS activities, security policies, good housekeeping, cost effectiveness, company policies & quality standard adherence
  • Ensure team members are properly trained and knowledgeable of work responsibilities
  • Monitors processes for inbound and outbound deliveries to ensure compliance with established guidelines
  • Manage shipping, receiving, warehouse metrics (e.g. dock audits, dock aging, transactions, etc.)
  • Develop and execute process improvement projects and initiatives to drive operational effectiveness
  • Support inventory control (cycle count) by ensuring all activities are performed to meet requirements
  • Support recruiting & onboarding of new hires
  • Ensure all orders are picked and shipped within established schedules, meeting or exceeding quality and accuracy standards by, monitoring daily reports; and organizing facilities to maximize efficiency
  • Ensure that all received merchandise is properly accounted for by verification of items received to the shipping documents, inspection of received items for damage, and put-away in a timely manner by; monitoring daily reports; working with the purchasing and accounts payable groups to take necessary corrective action in the event of discrepancy; and organizing facilities to maximize efficiency and material flow
  • Ensures proper lines of communication are firmly in place by conducting frequent department meetings, daily person-to-person contact, an open-door policy, and completing formal-written employee performance reviews
  • Perform other job duties required by supervisor and manager and maximize work flow during employee absences
  • Able to work with little supervision; work within bound of departmental budget
  • Able to meet operations schedule and maintain quality standards
  • Practice good housekeeping; maintain organized, safe and efficient workspace
  • Must work within budgetary boundaries


KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITIES:

  • Familiar with ISO 9000 system; able to work within company computer programs/systems
  • Knowledge of transportation methods
  • Knowledge of warehouse operations (i.e., shipping, receiving, flow patterns, freight)
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Ability to lead and work with employees in a team-based environment
  • Problem-solving skills: listening to, interpreting, and meeting the needs of others; diagnosing and rectifying problems
  • Strong verbal and written communication ability
  • Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment preferred


EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or equivalent field preferred or comparable work experience in an operational/materials/logistics background
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years' experience in operational/materials/logistics setting
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years' supervisory experience in operational/materials/logistics setting


WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Fast-paced manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, cold and noise
  • Must be able to work with diverse workforce
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods on solid surfaces in a factory setting
  • Ability to work follow-up on special situation, during weekend, evenings and holidays as needed
