About Column

For companies building financial technology and transforming the financial services space, the biggest bottleneck to their growth and innovation is often the underlying banks and infrastructure stack they rely on. We have spent our careers founding and scaling companies like Plaid, Square, SoFi, Blend, and Affirm, and have seen this problem firsthand - builders and developers needing to partner with traditional banks, and creating API and abstraction layers over the patchwork that is the bank, its core, and many other vendors. All of this results in a complex (and often expensive) banking supply chain involving a user, fintech, BaaS middleware provider, bank, core and the Federal Reserve.

At Column, we set out to simplify and fix this. We are a bank and a software company built from the ground up, offering builders and developers technology-forward banking solutions that cut out the hundreds of vendors, middleware providers, and abstraction layers. This means a safer, more transparent, and less costly banking supply chain. Come build with us!

The opportunity

As one of Column's first Account Executives, you'll be generating momentum with and ultimately winning the business of innovative companies looking to incorporate financial capabilities into their product offerings. You'll collaborate with the broader Business team to shape the Sales playbooks, and develop creative ways to position Column in the market. Success in this role means having a great customer presence and becoming an expert in Column's products and differentiation. You might be a great fit if you're someone with a scrappy mentality, and are proactive about raising your hand to take on new challenges and projects outside of your day-to-day scope. This role reports to the Head of Go-To-Market and is an in-person role, where you'll be expected to work out of our San Francisco Presidio-based office 3+ days a week.

What you'll do

  • Generate pipeline and lead the full sales cycle, from initial interest to deal close, coordinating cross-functionally with other teams at Column to ensure a best-in-class customer experience throughout the deal cycle.
  • Become an expert on Column, our products / technology and our differentiation.
  • Help build Column's sales motion into an efficient winning machine.
  • Identify market segments that are a good fit for Column and build outbound campaigns and playbooks.
  • Get plugged into the fintech ecosystem and become an expert in our space - represent Column very well to the outside world.
  • Perform day-to-day activities consistent with safe and sound business practices and regulatory requirements.
What you'll need to be successful
  • 2+ years of sales closing experience with a track record of hitting and exceeding your quota
  • Experience selling into tech companies and / or financial services / fintech companies
  • Proven experience navigating ambiguous environments and establishing processes in a fast-paced organization
  • Creative problem solving skills: you're resourceful and have a bias towards action
  • Ability to generate and manage pipeline and sales process meticulously and intentionally, without much guidance, structure or coaching
  • Insatiable hunger for improvement: you're a naturally curious person, enjoy digging into the data, and regularly solicit feedback
  • A memorable presence: customers remember you as knowledgable, respectful, and a good representative of your organization
What you'll get from us
  • Flexible PTO
  • Competitive medical, dental, and vision plans (including options 100% subsidized by Column)
  • FSA + HSA options
  • 401(k) plans
  • Commuter benefits
  • Sponsored lunches and dinners
