Description

POSITION SUMMARY

A Plant Designer coordinates and supervises design assignments and related work performed by contractors, junior designers, and technical support staff, or plans and completes highly technical designs.

Work is closely managed and reviewed for accuracy and adequacy. Follows specific, outlined, and detailed directions.

Provides resolution to problems that are readily identifiable with limited scope and are resolved in accordance with standard practices, procedures, applications or routines.

Problem/Task resolution timeframe: The majority of tasks typically take one to two days to resolve.

Contacts are primarily with direct supervisors and others in group or department to give and receive information.

Plant Designer Intern

  • Works closely with a member of the team to enhance knowledge and skillset.
  • Learns and implements the Company's Best Practices for projects and processes.
  • Assist on simple plant design concepts with oversight from a mentor.

Plant Designer IV
  • Works closely with member of the team and assist to complete projects in a timely manner.
  • Implements and utilizes the Company's Best Practices for projects and processes.
  • Working knowledge of plant design and development.

Plant Designer III
  • Understands and can generate basic plant and site construction details.
  • Provides design support for building and site design including callout, layout, grading, and plant plans.
  • Accurately completing basic red line revisions on details, plan, sections, and elevations, and the 3D modeling of equipment.

Plant Designer II
  • Understands and can generate intermediate plant and site construction details.
  • Has the ability to use workflow from certain software to create illustrative plans.
  • Provides support to project Lead Designer in the design of building and site through certain software and hand drawings.

Plant Designer I
  • Understands and can generate advanced/complex plant and site construction details.
  • Accurately completing advanced/complex red line revisions on details, plan, sections, and elevations, and the 3D modeling of equipment.
  • Understands and translates survey documents and civil documents into site plans.


Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS PER JOB LEVEL

  • Plant Designer Intern - Currently enrolled in Tech/Trade school.
  • Plant Designer IV - Tech/Trade school.
  • Plant Designer III - Tech/Trade school or equivalent; two (2) years of experience.
  • Plant Designer II - Tech/Trade school or equivalent; four (4) years of experience.
  • Plant Drafter I - Technical/Trade or equivalent; six (6) years of experience.

SKILLS/ FUNCTIONAL CONTEMPENCY

Plant Designer Intern
  • Coursework in discipline
  • Desire to work after graduation - intern to hire

Plant Designer IV
  • Basic knowledge of applicable software
  • Beginner analytical and problem solving skills


Plant Designer III
  • Moderate knowledge of applicable software
  • Competent analytical and problem solving skills


Plant Designer II
  • Intermediate knowledge of applicable software
  • Advanced analytical and problem solving skills


Plant Designer I
  • Proficient knowledge of applicable software
  • Proficient analytical and problem solving skills
