DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF WORK

RATE OF PAY: $12.50 - $13.00 per hour ($14.75 per hour if Lifeguard certified)

MINIMUM AGE: 16 years

HOURS/PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT: Seasonal position - Starting in May and ending in September. Employee works up to six (6) days per week (up to 40-45 hours per week with one non-weekend day off). Must be able to work weekends, evenings, and holidays. Days off, other than the one day off per week, are granted only if a qualified worker can substitute for the employee. Employee is required to find their own substitute.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

This is a cashier for a municipal swimming pool complex. The employee collects entrance fees and sells pool entrance tags. Also, inspects IDs and pool entrance tags, prepares reports, and may perform other clerical duties.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Functions essential to attaining job objectives):

  • Follows all employee and pool rules and regulations.
  • Operates the reception duties of each pool, including but not limited to: using the cash register, collecting admission fees, selling pool tags, answering the phone, using computers and software efficiently, and greeting the public.
  • Collects and counts all admissions, keeps accurate totals of monies collected and is accountable for such.
  • Promotes positive relations with the public, becomes knowledgeable of all programs so that questions by the public can be answered.
  • Knows and enforces all pool rules and policies.
  • Assists with program registration.
  • Attends all training sessions and staff meetings.
  • Maintains an orderly and neat reception area, assists with grounds maintenance and cleanliness of pool/park/bathhouse areas and assists with end of day facility cleanup.
  • Checks IDs and pool tags and may be required to assist in lifeguard rotation.
  • Must clean facility and/or park as assigned.
  • Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Skill in accurately counting and recording cash transactions with speed.
  • Current Lifeguard Training and CPR for the Professional Rescuer certifications preferred.
  • Ability to keep simple records and prepare complete reports in a neat and timely manner.
  • Some knowledge of routine office practices and methods.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with others.
  • Ability to tactfully enforce rules and regulations.
  • Applicants with Lifeguard training will be considered first.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING/LICENSING REQUIREMENTS

NECESSARY SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Must submit to a criminal history check, drug screen, and pre-employment physical.

Part Time employees are not eligible for City provided health and welfare benefits.
