**Position Description**
The Environmental Services Technician - Custodian performs general custodial duties related to the maintenance and cleaning of assigned buildings and facilities and performs a variety of tasks relative to the assigned area of responsibility.
The duties of the Environmental Services Technician - Custodian include, but are not limited to:
* Sweep, mop, wax, strip, and polish floors; vacuum and shampoo carpets
* Dust and polish furniture, woodwork, fixtures, and equipment
* Clean desks, tables, and counter tops
* Wash walls, ceilings, woodwork, door panels, windows, sills, blinds, and door glass
* Empty, clean, and sanitize waste receptacles in assigned areas
* Clean and sanitize restroom facilities and fixtures as assigned including sinks, urinals, toilets, mirrors, walls and drinking fountains; replenish restroom supplies as needed
* Sweep walkways and entrances to buildings and classrooms; pick up debris around building
* Operate and control high and low speed stripping/buffing machines
* Set up tables, chairs, and equipment in a variety of settings for special events and normal campus activities
* Identify and report building maintenance needs in assigned buildings and facilities
* Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
**Working Conditions**
* The job is performed under some temperature extremes
* Moderate physical effort requiring long periods of standing, walking, and periodic lifting of 50 pounds or more
* Must be able to stretch, stoop, bend, and maneuver to facilitate all elements of cleaning the buildings
