POSITION SUMMARY

The Food Safety Manager offers a fun and team-oriented individual the opportunity to join our team and be responsible for developing and managing food safety plans, performing testing and monitoring of the environmental management program. Will also perform inspections and audits in keeping with the program requirements of Safe Quality Food (SQF), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) and FDA 21 CFR 117 Good Manufacturing Practices.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

* Manage implementation of the Food Safety Plans (HACCP and FDA Food Safety Plans devolved with Hazard Analysis Risk Based Preventive Controls)

* Oversee the environmental monitoring program from testing, to trending and mitigation of any issues while documenting all corrective actions appropriately

* Oversee microbiological testing of product (Coliform, APC, and e. Coli). Ensure plant staff are trained in proper methods for plating and enumeration and develop procedures if none exist.

* Assist in managing Sanitation SOPs, perform periodic Sanitation pre-operational inspections, direct sanitation supervisor to correct cleanliness issues when there are sanitary concerns that affect product safety present.

* Perform Food Safety audits and manage completion and documentation of any corrections that need to be made from audit findings

* Manage the plant hold and quarantine hold program for all holds which may include microbiological and process deviations.

* Be able to perform all on-line QA functions to assist in training

* Give direction to QA leads in the absence of the QA Manager

* Be able to review daily process records

* Assist in conducting record reviews of customer complaints and maintaining a Customer Complaint Investigation Register

* Employee shall be able to make decisions regarding food safety practices in the plant and convey those decisions to management and all other staff.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

Knowledge:

* Four year college degree, Food Science or related field, preferred.

Language Skills:

* Ability to read, write, and comprehend complex instructions and follow through on directives.

* Bilingual English/Spanish an asset

* Be fluent in Microsoft Word and Excel
