First Fiber is a fast growing fiber optics permitting and networking design company based in Central Florida. We are seeking a drafter to help us continue to grow in the Florida market.
Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Drafter - Fiber Optics at First Fiber LLC in Orlando, FL. The Drafter - Fiber Optics will be responsible for the day-to-day tasks associated with Base Mapping, ROW permit design, Aerial & Underground Design, and Bore Profiles to name a few. This includes creating detailed drawings and documentation, collaborating with team members, and ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drafting and Design: Use CAD software to create detailed technical drawings and site plans for the installation within designated right of ways. Ensure all drawings comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Permit Documentation: Prepare technical drawings and other documentation required for right of way installation.
- Revision and Updates: Revise drawings based on feedback from regulatory bodies. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in regulations affecting right of way.
- Quality Assurance: Check and validate designs and layouts for errors and compliance before submission for permits. Ensure all work adheres to industry standards and project requirements.
Qualifications
- AutoCAD + MicroStation drafting experience, preferably with a focus on telecommunications or utility projects.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D). Knowledge of GIS applications is a plus
- Knowledge of fiber optic network design principles and best practices
- Understanding of industry standards and regulations for fiber optic installations is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate drawings
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Associate's or Trade degree in drafting or a related field
- Previous experience in the telecommunications industry is a plus
