10 Month Employee - temporary if hired after the contractual start date

Reports to: Building Principal

Salary: Current teacher salary schedule

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must hold a state mandated professional license (LCSW or LMSW) or certification (DOE School Social Worker) per DE Department of Education Regulation ( )
  • Must hold a Master in Social Work from an acccredited institution
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with supporting the mental health needs of children and their families
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide clinical behavioral health counseling services to students and their families around issues that impact students' academic performance. Services may be provided in school or family's home.
  • Provide or ensure services to students and families with multiple issues involving mental and emotional health that could be related to substance use, past trauma or mental illness.
  • Build strong rapport with students and families and complete accurate psycho-social assessments and treatment plans
  • Maintain detailed and concise records of each student (client) during the course of their treatment in district platform
  • Consult with physicians, medical professionals, therapists and other related professionals when appropriate
  • Facilitate dialogue that involves the appropriate individuals as needed
  • Work with other school personnel to properly assess and help students with unique needs flourish in the school setting
  • Collaborate with school team, families and outside providers to develop effective supportive transition plans for students as they transition in and out of an alternative setting
  • Collaborate with student IEP team to develop and support the goals on the students' IEPs
  • Collaborate with the school administration and support staff to conduct assessments and create behavior plans that work to support the whole child.
  • Provide direct support and professional development opportunities for staff to increase their knowledge and skills related to supporting students' emotional and behavioral well being, including the implementation of trauma informed practices
  • Respond to crisis situations in accordance with district policies and procedures and follow up as appropriate to ensure student safety
  • Actively participate in or facilitate MTSS team meetings and provide and/or coordinate wrap around services to students
  • Maintain a working knowledge of local and state resources and make appropriate referrals for services to students and families.
  • With notice, and consistent with employment commitments, is available to students and parents, within reason, for educational related purposes outside the instructional day.
