Job Overview

The Louisiana SPCA is seeking a dynamic Gift Officer to join their Development Department.

This position is primarily responsible for acquiring, cultivating, and soliciting assigned individual

donors and prospects with potential to give $1,000 or more annually, with a heightened focus on

individual giving and upgrading donors to Major Donor levels ($5,000+).

The Gift Officer will work to expand the Louisiana SPCA's 4Paws program ($1,000+) donor

program and volunteer activities in their assigned area/market. This role will also be responsible

for managing relationships, communications, and individual giving plans with leadership donors

and managing volunteer leadership committees in their assigned markets.

The successful candidate will be an experienced nonprofit fundraising professional with a track

record of building and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships with individual donors. This

is an exciting opportunity for a fundraiser that is prepared to excel in a fast-paced environment.

The Gift Officer reports to the Development Director, works closely with all members of the

Development Team and collaborates with every team across the organization.

Requirements

Key Performance and Success Areas:

  • Manage a portfolio of 250+ mid-level "4Paws" donors and prospects capable of making gifts of between $1,000-$9,999, with a goal of securing a significant number of new gifts and gift upgrades, especially at the $5,000 level, through a creative and proactive approach to personal cultivation and solicitation.
  • Develop and implement periodic Planned Giving messaging and solicitations to mid-level donors, including targeted mailings and personal outreach.
  • Implement consistent practices to develop and execute individual donor plans, recording donor activities, preferences and moves management steps in CRM (currently Raiser's Edge).
  • Identify and qualify prospects using prospect research tools, like ResearchPoint.
  • Collaborate with the Development Director on developing strategies to expand the midlevel pipeline and upgrade mid-level donors to the major donor pipeline, achieving aggressive targets for an increase in individual revenue.
  • In coordination with the Development Director, manages the Development Committee to engage new networks of prospective supporters and implement stewardship strategies.
  • Build strong internal relationships with program staff, staying up to date on organization's work. Collaborate with the Development and Communications teams to create compelling materials for face-to-face donor meetings and other donor communications to strengthen overall donor engagement.
  • With the Development team, develop and implement strategies to achieve three-year revenue growth goals as well as the goals of the Louisiana SPCA's overall strategic plan.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to meet company needs.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Fundraising experience of 4+ years with a demonstrated ability to secure gifts between $1,000-$9,999.
  • A successful track record of personally identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors and volunteers in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
  • Ability to work independently, build strong relationships, and develop and manage a robust pipeline for an individual gifts program.
  • Ability to effectively communicate the mission, goals, and needs of an organization in a compelling way and to tailor communications to different audiences and donor needs.
  • Principled, ethical, professional, and committed to exceptional work quality and standards.

Physical Requirements:
  • Should not be allergic to animals or nuts; must be able to work around all animals.

Working Environment (or Working Conditions)
  • Potentially subject to animal bites and scratches.
  • Ability to work in an area with a high noise level.


Salary Description

$50,000 - $65,000 - based on experience
