Position Summary

This is a temporary position that works under general supervision to provide clerical support for the Vector Control program. This position requires the use of limited independent judgment and skill processing, communicating, creating and/or maintaining various records, files, and information regarding specific departmental functions.

Pay Grade: 41

Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education

Minimum Qualifications

100% -

1. Two (2) years of experience in appropriate clerical, bookkeeping, data processing, or statistical work; AND

2. High school diploma or possess a GED; OR

3.One (1) year of appropriate clerical, bookkeeping, data processing, or statistical work; and one (1) year of college study (30 semester hours or 36 quarters) from an accredited college or university.

4. PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Provides clerical support to supervisors and inspectors.

2. Processes and enters pertinent data into the computer or other record format for processing.

3. Research property information to validate assigned municipalities.

4. Educates and informs the public regarding policies and procedures within the Vector Control department.

5. Ensures customer complaints are processed and routed to the appropriate department or individual.

6. Receives, reviews and processes records, reports, and other various documents as required for accuracy and/or conformance with established policies and procedures.

7. Mails or issues in person department specific authorized documents or materials as required.

8. Relieves or assists other clerical employees in assigned work area.

9. Performs other related duties as required or directed.

1. Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.

2. Knowledge of Business English and Math.

3. Skilled in operating office equipment.

4. Ability to communicate with public, coworkers, and other departments with courtesy and tact.

5. Ability to plan, organize and maintain an even flow of work.

6. Ability to express ideas clearly, concisely and effectively, verbally, and in writing.

7. Ability to resolve problematic situations.

8. Ability to become proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Familiarity with computerized databases.
