Primary Function

With a high degree of visibility and coordination with Finance and Compliance Leadership, the Financial Reporting Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting GAAP financial reporting, regulatory reporting, and covenant reporting for a national mortgage bank and wholly owned subsidiary of a publicly traded company. Support GAAP financial reporting, regulatory reporting, and covenant reporting, for a national mortgage bank and servicer and wholly owned subsidiary of a publicly traded company. Develop solutions for process improvement and serve as a liaison between title company leadership and corporate accounting.

Principal Duties

  • Support the financial statement and footnote preparation for 10-Q quarterly reporting, 10-K annual reporting, and various annual standalone financial statements.
  • Coordinate and perform regulatory reporting, including:
    • Oversee the preparation and filing of Sales & Use tax, local taxes, and property taxes.
    • Prepare the quarterly MBFRF and NMLS filings for the mortgage bank. Maintain reporting models, coordinate the gathering of statistical data, and file the reports.
    • Support the annual financial statement agency filings.
    • Prepare and distribute monthly net worth and liquidity calculations for all Government Sponsored Agencies, Government agencies, and state level calculations.
    • Prepare projections for the monthly adjusted net worth and liquidity calculations.
    • Provide ad-hoc reporting for state level compliance exams and filings.
  • Work with other Senior Accounting staff to manage month-end closings:
    • Assist in the consolidation and delivery of the monthly trial balance.
    • Prepare and deliver the monthly consolidation package.
    • Streamline processes to accelerate the closing timeline, including the consolidation of subsidiaries.
  • Perform the various SOX controls over financial and regulatory reporting.
  • Perform the monthly debt covenant calculations and deliver the covenant package to counterparties.
  • Track and deliver the monthly financing position analysis.
  • Support the Director of Financial Reporting on various system initiatives, primarily with Workiva.
  • Performs related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA license a plus
  • Experience working for a national public accounting firm or mortgage bank a plus
  • At least 5 years' experience working in a high-volume, high-pressure environment involving various reporting deliverables and requiring the use of advanced spreadsheet functions, databases, and reporting tools.
  • Experience problem solving.

Knowledge, Skill and Ability Requirements

  • Aptitude and enthusiasm for process improvement and dataflow.
  • Thorough understanding of financial statements.
  • Requires organization, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and the willingness to complete projects in a time sensitive environment.
  • Must be very proficient in Excel. Experience with Workiva and Workday a plus
  • Detail oriented.
