As a Consumer Manager, you will work in a supportive housing setting in Mercer County, NJ.

Schedule: 8:30am to 5:00pm with half hour lunch.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the self-help center's daily operations; provide supervision and oversight during all scheduled hours, days and activities; provide an open, welcoming environment that ensures the safety of members.
  • Provide technical assistance, supervision and support to facilitators, volunteers and members.
  • Participate in outreach activities to promote wellness and recovery
  • Provide individualized support to members in community settings
  • Market the self-help center and its services as a community resource to a diverse mental health consumer population.
  • Promote wellness and recovery as foundation concepts for center philosophy and activities.
  • Establish and enforce policies and procedures that promote diversity and cultural competency.
  • Strengthen linkages, information and referral between the self-help centers and community, county and state agencies, hospitals, CMHC's, partial care and other programs and consumer resources.
  • Coordinate with self-help center representative(s) and members to attend required and other meetings (SCAC, mental health boards), advocacy events, trainings, and conferences to provide information for the self-help center and promote agency and/or personal growth.
  • Work with self-help center membership, agency staff and others to develop new, expanded and inclusive activities, groups and other consumer services.
  • Attend educational opportunities to expand knowledge of self-help, peer support and other initiatives that empower members and member-operated services.
  • Collect and maintain pertinent data; learn and take an active part in the development of quality improvement plans.
  • Maintain structure and follow and apply self-help center policy and procedure.
  • Maintain budget, petty cash and other fiscal matters relating to the self-help center.
  • Maintain van maintenance schedule and assist drivers with transportation issues.
  • Be available to members on a 24-hour basis during emergencies.

Qualifications:

  • Mental health consumer with experience in the mental health field and/or peer support or other consumer-oriented training program
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Leadership abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Valid NJ driver's license.
