Job Purpose:

As the Senior Payroll and Benefit Analyst, you will play a critical role in managing the payroll and benefits functions within the organization. You will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll, administering employee benefit programs, and providing analytical support to improve payroll and benefit processes. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of multi-state payroll and benefit regulations.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Payroll Processing

Oversee the end-to-end payroll processes, including data entry, verification, and distribution of paychecks or electronic transfers.

Ensure accuracy of payroll calculations, deductions, and withholdings in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Resolve payroll discrepancies and issues in a timely manner.

Stay updated on changes in payroll laws and regulations to ensure compliance.

Benefits Administration

Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans and other voluntary benefits.

Facilitate new hire enrollment and provide ongoing support to employees regarding benefits inquiries and concerns.

Coordinate with benefits vendors and brokers to ensure smooth administration of benefits plans.

Conduct periodic audits of benefits data to maintain accuracy and compliance.

Reporting and Analysis

Generate reports and analyze payroll and benefits data to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement.

Provide insights and recommendations based on analysis to enhance payroll and benefits processes.

Prepare regular reports for management, HR and finance departments regarding payroll expenses, benefits utilization, and other related metrics.

Compliance and Regulations

Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to payroll and benefits.

Keep abreast of changes in tax laws, labor regulations, and reporting requirements.

Assist with audits and regulatory findings related to payroll and benefits as needed.

Process Improvement

Identify opportunities to streamline payroll and benefits process improvements and system enhancements.

Document standard operating procedure (SOPs) for payroll and benefits.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in human resources, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in payroll administration, preferably in a senior or lead role.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS strongly preferred, if not required.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processing systems and software.
  • Familiarity with benefits administration and regulations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.


Work Conditions:

Position is maintained generally in an office environment but may be required to visit the processing areas to interact and engage with employees to support business operations.
