Compliance Specialist

Moss & Company is currently looking for a HUD Compliance Specialist to join our Dynamic Team.


Responsibilities:

  • Assists with lease-up activities of new sites, which may include attending meetings, providing staff support and auditing move-in files;
  • Monitor and enforce the accuracy of income and rent limits, utility allowance, unit mapping for regulatory compliance, and income averaging;
  • Ensure that Yardi database accurately reflects restrictions and requirements in accordance with regulatory agreement;
  • Recommends appropriate corrective action to resolve noncompliance;
  • Works with manager to correct noncompliance through corrective action;
  • Supports and provides input on systems to monitor site compliance with all regulatory agreements and requirements;
  • Provides one-on-one and group trainings to ensure full program compliance;
  • Provides information to compliance manager on recertification audit findings and commonalities, common errors or opportunities for learning;
  • Supports the compliance manager in answering compliance escalations and questions as they are related to the program regulations, occupancy and qualifying requirements;
  • Develops strong working relationships with property supervisors, community managers, assistant managers and other key property operations staff;
  • Maintains current technical and professional knowledge by attending trainings as needed and become certified in HUD/LIHTC and all appropriate funding source certification programs.


Skills:

  • Knowledge of property management and YARDI
  • Perform job successfully, candidate must be able to perform each essential duty
  • Have great knowledge and experience with LAHD, TCAC, HUD, occupancy and compliance regulations
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Minimum of (2) years of experience in affordable housing and property management
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or schedule form
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others
  • Positive attitude, good sense of humor, energetic, assertive, and capable role model for colleagues
  • Demonstrate integrity on a professional level and excellent communication skills
