Summary Being a part of this Visual Merchandising team means bringing our stores to life through creativity and having a passion for design. Your main focus will be creating displays that provide inspiration to our customers to show them how to transform their house into the home of their dreams. The success of each member on our merchandising team requires an eye for details and cohesive displays that showcase our commitment to providing the best products and shopping experience for our customers. Staying current with design and furniture trends in the industry is a must. You will be required to train and inspire fellow Visuals to create compelling displays as well as sharing techniques and best practices for successful merchandising. You will also be working with our team of Buyers who travel the world to bring the best values in the market back to Hom. To be a successful Visual Merchandiser you will have an understanding of the programs, brands and styles they bring to our stores and how to convey this message to our customers through display.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Set and maintain compelling displays throughout the showroom to drive sales

* Be knowledgeable about product, brands and style to enhance the customer experience in a showroom which is thoughtfully and purposefully placed.

* Inspire and support fellow merchandising teams throughout the company by sharing successes, best practices and current market trends/strategies.

* Manage the flow of all goods in and out of the showroom through communication with the management team, corporate and our distribution centers.

* Maintain a safe working environment with proper lifting techniques and handling procedures.

* Oversee all logistics to complete displays in the showroom.

+ Physical placement of product as well as tracking inventory in the computer.

+ All items tagged and priced properly.

+ All items in good working and new out of the box condition free of damage.

+ All functions of any piece are working and can be demonstrated to a customer.

+ All pieces are properly lit with spot lights directed. Good working bulbs if applicable.

+ All aspects of the display clean, vacuumed and dusted before completed.

* Participate in the opening and processing of accessories and smaller goods as they arrive at the showroom.

+ Open, assemble and tag lamps/accessories

+ Follow through with damaged product that arrives at the showroom that may need to be repaired, have parts ordered, disposed of or entered for credit from the manufacturer.

* Staying up to date with the different forms of communication within Hom are crucial to the success of each merchandising team. As a Visual Merchandiser you must be extremely comfortable with basic computer programs. This would include but not be limited to...

+ AS400 system for product transfers and inventory locations.

Education and/or Experience Must have or be currently working towards a high school diploma or general education degree (GED), and 2 years related experience and/or training.

Language Skills Requires skills to read and interpret documents and reports for accuracy along with a demonstrated ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.

Mathematical Skills Mathematical aptitude to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure and interpret ratios and percentages. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data or figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading, visual inspection involving small defects, and using measurement devices.

Reasoning Ability Need to be able to define problems, collect data , establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Also need skills to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Supervisory Duties and Responsibilities Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work.
