Wages and Benefits

A Typical Day in the Life...

A typical day as Solid Ground's Office Assistant provides the opportunity to supply broad and varied front desk, administrative, and program support to the agency, staff, and program participants. This position requires regular and punctuational attendance. Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Greeting participants, volunteers, donors, vendors and other visitors to East Metro Place in a friendly and professional manner and directing them to the appropriate staff or location.
  • Ensuring coverage at the front desk as much as possible including answering phones and coordinating other staff to cover during breaks/lunch.
  • Assisting with copying, faxing, typing documents, and processing incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Distributing pantry items as directed by program staff.
  • Ensuring main office files and program supplies are in order and updated.
  • Scheduling weekly transportation needs for participants and volunteers using agency vehicles.
  • Facilitating communication between residents, vendors, and East Metro Place property management by maintaining the Maintenance Request Book and directing inquiries as needed.
  • Assisting program staff with collecting information from residents, scheduling appointments, and providing other supportive work with residents.
  • Providing basic computer, telephone, and office technology training for new employees.
  • Assisting with purchasing and troubleshooting problems with computer software and equipment.
  • Entering pantry items distributed to participants in the Apricot Client database and routing forms to Finance department.
  • Stamping donation checks for bank deposit and submitting to Development & Data Coordinator for processing.
  • Assisting in receiving in-kind donations, as needed, and entering in-kind gifts into donor/volunteer database.
  • Creating records for new volunteers and updating information for existing volunteers in Raiser's Edge and Better Impact database.
  • Assisting in recruiting volunteers for activities and meetings as directed by Volunteer Manager.
  • Assisting with tasks in preparing for and following up on special events and donation drives.

Who You Are

  • You hold a high school diploma or GED with one year of experience in an office setting; or you have a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge.

  • You have the ability to effectively communicate and work with diverse populations.
  • You have the ability to use computers and other technical resources to effectively accomplish work, including the ability to run a copier, fax machine, and adding machine/calculator.
  • You are skilled in utilizing Microsoft Office applications.
  • You have the ability to manage multiple priorities to ensure work is completed in a timely and productive manner.
  • You demonstrate skills in providing customer service to meet participant needs.

  • You have the ability to work in an environment which requires the use of a computer, telephone, and 10-key; you have the ability to perform repetitive motion of the fingers, hands, and wrists.
