The Field Supervisor (FS) is responsible for managing the job plan as laid out by the business unit team during the weekly production meeting. The result is the delivery of the expected value to our Landscape Construction clients and the long term growth of the company

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Managing all job site activity including:

  • Production Team Members
  • Sub-Contractors
  • Equipment Utilization
  • Materials Needs
  • Scheduling and Tracking of All Man Hours

Communication: Maintain clear and proper Communication between all team members which may be involved with the project both onsite and offsite. Communication may be in the form of verbal, electronic (email, text, time sheets, etc.) and paper (plans, Change Orders, etc.). Team members are all people on the project that we work with, including but not limited to:
  • Marzilli Project Managers (PM), Assistant Project Managers (APM), Crew Members & Office Staff
  • General Contractors (GC)
  • Subcontractors
  • Architects

Scheduling and Job Plans: Management of the daily, weekly and 2-week Schedule.
  • Visit all sites at minimum of 3 times per week to review schedules of production, equipment, materials with crew leader:
  • Sites which are far away (more than 2 hrs.) utilize online meetings with video to review progress on site for 1 or 2 out of the 3 site meetings
  • Plan out weekly and 2-week schedule with manpower, material, subcontractor and equipment needs review at weekly operations meeting with PM/APM.
  • Coordinate schedules with GC on site to minimize downtime.
  • Talk with each crew leader by 2:00pm for any changes for next day. Check and confirm daily progress against goal and prep for next couple of days.
  • Coordinate material deliveries to site with APM. Bulk materials may be ordered directly by FS.
  • FS should manage their schedule to be on sites(s) during most of the day returning to office early afternoon to plan/approve timesheets/get updated drawings/etc.

Pre-Construct and Job Layout: Work with PM, APM and Subcontractors to fully pre-construct the job prior to job start
  • Layout project appropriately as project schedule dictates
  • Clearly mark all sleeves, stakes, lines, etc. so that there will be no question as to what they are and will not be inadvertently removed
  • Layout issues should be discussed as soon as possible on site with PM
  • Coordinate on site meeting to review layout when appropriate
  • Limit the changing of the crew on site to a minimum. Meet any new crew to layout their scope and labor hour expectations on day one of their role in the job.

Job Site Behavior: Manage crews and site to ensure a Respectful and Collaborative work environment.
  • Address and resolve conflict quickly and professionally.
  • Represent R.P. Marzilli respectfully, thoughtfully and professionally. FS is the day-to-day representative of the company.
  • Direct any client questions should they arise while on sites to PM.
  • Utilize senior personnel to assist with challenging conflicts.

Safety: Ensure company Safety policies are being met or exceeded each day and maintain a Clean Job Site.
  • Ensure that Weekly Tailgate Talks are being performed by each crew leader
  • Proper use of PPE (Safety Glasses, Ear Protection, Hard Hats, Hi Vis Clothing),
  • Daily site clean-up so that trip/fall hazards are minimized
  • Maintain all safety guards on equipment
  • Make sure all personnel using any equipment are properly trained and supervised
  • Understand RP Marzilli's reporting protocols and report accidents as required.

Crew Management/Sub Management
  • Crew leaders while working for your business unit will report to FS.
  • Daily approval of crew time sheets. End of each day. Work with Foreman to ensure accurate daily hour reporting. Review reports for accuracy.
  • FS is responsible to help resolve conflict between crew members on their sites
  • FS is responsible to write up any safety or behavioral violations with teams on his/her job sites
  • FS responsible for on site job training
  • FS to manage sub-contractors while on our job sites.

Equipment Assignment Management/ Maintenance
  • FS will work with PM team to assign and deploy equipment as needed to optimize efficiency and ROI on the equipment.
  • Ensure all equipment is operated, maintained, and cleaned per best practices.
  • FS will monitor the utilization of equipment to ensure that operators are trained and are caring for the equipment responsibly.

Physical Requirements:
  • Strength, stamina and mobility to perform heavy physical work in all weather conditions
  • Physical agility required to access all areas of properties and construction sites
  • Assist in manual labor, and lift and/or move objects weighing up to 100 pounds
