**DEPARTMENT: Food Services**

**REPORTS TO: Chef Supervisor, Food Service Director / Assistant Food Service Director**

**HOURS: 6am - 2pm Weekdays with rotating weekends**

**POSITION SUMMARY:**

**Responsible for working with the FSD, or AFSD to develop menus ideas for residents, following menus and recipes to make desserts, preparing food for parties, celebrations and special occasions, and adhering to all health department rules. In carrying out the duties and responsibilities of the position, the Baker must exercise creativity and ensure that food is delicious, appetizing and visually appealing in Coble Creek, Moneta Springs and Deacon Pointe.**

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Must be able to complete cake decorating at an intermediate level.

- Work directly with the chef and receive assignment for the day as needed.

- Uses mixers, proof boxes, ovens and blenders as needed to produce a product that meets the resident expectations.

- Create baked items for the Caf show case, displays and neighborhood dining areas.

- Weigh, measure and mix ingredients according to recipes or personal judgment, using various kitchen utensils and equipment.

- Observe and test foods to determine if they are prepared properly, using methods such as tasting, smelling or piercing them with utensils.

- Plate food in an attractive manor.

- Able to lift, unload and move food and supplies; lift dishes to storage location.

- Required to work independently or aid others in the cleaning of all items used in the serving and preparation of the meals.

- Use kitchen equipment safely by operating electrical and mechanical equipment.

- Maintain appropriate inventory of food and supplies.

- Reports all unusual conditions, behaviors, and/or resident complaints to the Supervisor.

- Responds and reacts in a kind, polite, and professional manner to residents, families, visitors, coworkers, and supervisors.

- Responsible for protecting any confidential information concerning residents, family, and/or the organization.

- Must demonstrate knowledge of and comply with all CMS and NC health/ Serve Safe regulations and procedures.

- Must adhere to all facility and departmental Fire, Disaster, Threat, and Emergency procedures.

- Adheres to all organizational and departmental policies and procedures in the performance of position responsibilities.

- Must attend organizational and/or departmental training sessions, Relias, and/or in-services as scheduled.

- May be required to perform other duties in keeping with the nature of this position which will not significantly alter the job requirements

* Able to sit, stand, bend, reach and move intermittently during work.

* Able to read recipes and possess math skills to compute measured ingredients when multiplying batches.

* Performance of job duties subject to frequent interruptions.

* Able to lift, push, pull, and move equipment, supplies, etc., up to 50 pounds and transport up to 250 pounds with assistive device.

* May be required to adjust scheduled time or work beyond normal hours for planned activities/events and emergencies.

* May be exposed to odors from cleaning supplies, chemicals, equipment, and /or waste.

Specific Requirements:

* Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant it. Able to supervise other staff.

* Follow Uniform policy, Chef Jacket, black pants, hair restraint, non-slip shoes, wedding band only no ring watch or ear rings.

* Able to manage time, multiple tasks, and projects.

* Must be able to work both weekdays and weekends.

Education and/or Experience:

* High School Diploma preferred.

* Culinary experience of 2-5 years or culinary education.

Certificates, licenses, registrations:

* Serve Safe Certificate is required
