Interconnection Project Manager


Job Details

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Interconnection Project Manager to oversee and manage a portfolio of projects within the PJM Interconnection system. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, project management methodologies, and regulatory compliance, along with excellent leadership and communication skills.


Responsibilities:


Project Planning and Execution:

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of projects within the PJM Interconnection system, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets, and monitor project progress to ensure timely delivery and adherence to budget constraints.


Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Collaborate with internal teams, external vendors, utilities, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure project success and alignment with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain effective communication channels and foster positive relationships with stakeholders to manage expectations and address any issues or concerns that may arise.


Regulatory Compliance:

  • Stay updated on regulatory requirements and compliance standards set forth by regulatory agencies such as the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and relevant state authorities.
  • Ensure that projects comply with regulatory standards and obtain necessary approvals and permits as required.


Technical Expertise:

  • Utilize strong technical knowledge of electrical engineering principles and PJM Interconnection operations to evaluate project feasibility, identify technical requirements, and make informed decisions.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to resolve complex technical challenges and optimize project designs and implementations.


Risk Management:

  • Identify potential risks and uncertainties associated with projects and develop strategies to mitigate risks and ensure project success.
  • Proactively monitor project risks and implement risk mitigation measures as needed to minimize project disruptions and delays.


Team Leadership:

  • Provide leadership and direction to project teams, including internal staff and external contractors, to ensure alignment with project goals and objectives.
  • Motivate team members, foster a collaborative work environment, and promote a culture of excellence and accountability.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Project Management, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in project management, preferably in the energy sector or related industry.
  • Strong understanding of PJM Interconnection operations, energy markets, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex projects from initiation to completion, with a focus on delivering results on time and within budget.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders and lead cross-functional teams.
  • PMP certification or other relevant project management certifications are a plus.
