JOB TITLE: Aquatics & Sports Director
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
FLSA TYPE: Salaried, Exempt
The Aquatics & Sports Director will administer all functions related to the Aquatics & Sports Department with a direct focus on safety, recruitment of participants, retention, and customer service. The Aquatics & Sports Director oversees operations of the aquatics department and various youth and sports programs, including staff supervision, budget management, and planning. Experience in sports, sports skill development, lifeguarding, people management, swim instruction, and/or other water experience is a plus for this position.
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (not a complete list):
1.Responsible for expense control & income generation for Aquatics & Sports Departments at the Hutcherson YMCA
2.Ensure growth in recruitment of participants in swim lessons and sports.
3.Work with Executive Director to ensure growth in membership sales due to & sports environment.
4.Recruit, develop and lead aquatics staff including lifeguards, swim instructors and pool attendants.
5.Recruit, develop and lead sports staff
6.Responsible for ensuring that all aquatics & sports facilities are maintained to expected levels of cleanliness
7.Assist with annual promotion plan for all aquatics & sports programs including flyers, brochures, website, newsletter, news releases, advertisements, etc.
8.Coordinate scheduling of pool parties with branch staff so facility operates seamlessly
9.Achieve goals set for a director in For A Better Us Campaign.
10.Other duties as assigned
Requirements
SKILLS and KNOWLEDGE:
Required:
1.High School Diploma or equivalent experience
2.Minimum 2 years experience working in Aquatics Programming
3.Experience in sports programming, managing multiple locations, managing multiple staff
4.Current CPR/AED/First Aid/Lifeguard Certification (will provide upon hire)
5. Certified Pool Operator (will provide upon hire)
6.Volunteer or Staff supervision experience
7.Knowledge of aquatics programming and safety issues
Preferred:
1.Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS)
2.Knowledge of budgeting & expense control.
3.Excellent written and oral communication skills
4.Bilingual - English/Spanish
5.Experience teaching swim lessons
Salary Description
$45-47,000 annually
