Summary:

This position is responsible for sourcing products (end assemblies).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Source end assemblies by selecting vendors based on their commitment to quality, on-time delivery, and pricing; results are obtainable by final negotiations.
  • Actively monitor different metrics using supply chain management such as lead time and cost reduction.
  • Maintain close contact with vendors by correspondence, telephone, and plant visits.
  • Publish and contact top suppliers semi- annually with vendor analysis ratings and secure corrective action when applicable.
  • Develop and coordinate company related operational projects, as needed.
  • Work closely with Customer Service to confirm dock dates and expedites.
  • Work with strategic suppliers to develop new programs or contracts for better pricing and payment terms.
  • Conduct ERP; EQMS; Microsoft training meetings with purchasing team, as required.
  • Mentor Purchasing Agents and benchmark goals and objectives.
  • Other job activities as assigned.


Essential Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experience:

  • High school diploma required; Associates Degree and/or Bachelor's degree in Business related field preferred; 7-10 years of purchasing experience in an MRP environment. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Intermediate/advanced skill in Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Advanced knowledge of ERP systems
  • Strong "should cost" knowledge of vehicle electronics components and/or end assembly
  • Ability to work on team projects; share ideas; and compromise for end results
  • Knowledge of lean concepts such as pull systems, vendor managed inventory, consignment inventory and lead-time reduction programs
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills with internal customers and suppliers
  • Advanced negotiation skills; ability to multi- task; effective organization and coordination skills in a team environment with a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines
  • CPIM certification preferred
  • Ability to travel as needed
