Description

Position is responsible for the performance of a variety of semi-skilled and non-technical work in the general upkeep and continual maintenance of all Church-owned facilities, buildings, equipment and property, including mechanical and building systems, custodial services, grounds keeping, materials management and general construction. Ensure property operations comply with all applicable laws and regulations. Prioritizes work orders and maintains system software, supervises and schedules staff, and oversees vendors and contractors.

  • Coordinates and performs maintenance of services related to campus facility utilization, repairs, construction, preventive maintenance, and emergency preparedness in accordance with Church vision.
  • Actively manages renovation and remediation projects, collaborating closely with Church lay and paid staff, stakeholders and contracted vendors.
  • Oversees third-party vendors, contractors and volunteers, ensuring job completion in accordance with appropriate specifications, budget and timeline.
  • Supervises assigned personnel, providing effective leadership and coaching, encouraging the highest levels of performance management and participating in all personnel-related matters such as scheduling, leave management, recruiting and performance management.
  • Collaborates with internal and external personnel for the purposes of coordinating activities and programs, resolving issues, and communicating information relative to assigned functions and related matters.
  • Maintains a documented schedule of preventive maintenance for all equipment and facilities, referring to related documents such as user manuals, reference tools and warranty information, as needed or appropriate.
  • Adheres to all health, environmental and occupational safety laws, rules and best practices, as required or recommended by law or industry standard, participating in investigations as necessary.
  • Leads regular inspections and compliance activities in accordance with approved policies and procedures, working with fire and police personnel, inspectors and other public officials as necessary, ensuring regulatory compliance and proper documentation.
  • Supports the facilities use and reservation process, ensuring timely coordinator of facilities requests and meeting with event personnel as necessary.
  • Participates in appropriate committee meetings, workshops, seminars and other planned functions to enhance success of capital projects.
  • Attends ministry and program meetings, events and functions, as requested or directed.
  • Other as deemed necessary by management.


Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge of complex plumbing, electrical, masonry, carpentry and other skilled systems and/or trades.
  • Advanced vocational or technical training, education and/or certification in a related skill or field.
  • Minimum eight years' experience in facilities maintenance, major building trades or a related position.
  • Strong leadership, organizational and project management skills and/or experience; previous personnel management experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of applicable occupational health and safety standard, regulations, and practices.
  • Valid Florida driver's license with reliable transportation.
  • Strong technological skills, including computer software, internet and mobile telecommunications programs and applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with Church staff, parishioners, vendors, committees and contractors.
  • Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to relay technical ideas and concepts to others outside the profession.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of or experience with operational budget processes, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to resolve conflict in an efficient, professional and Christ-like manner.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints, technical specifications, field reports and related schematics.
  • Meet position occupational demands and fitness-for-duty requirements.
