$500 BONUS
$250 ON FIRST CHECK AND $250 AFTER 120-DAYS OF EMPLOYMENT
We are looking for a Parking Enforcement Officer to join the City of Charleston's Traffic & Transportation Department! In this role, you will patrol assigned areas of the City by foot and enforce ordinances regulating the orderly parking of motor vehicles.
Examples of Duties
- Maintains a regular patrol of a parking district as assigned, issuing tickets for violations of the City's parking codes.
- Operates ticket-writing computer to record violations and assess penalties.
- Gives ticket book/computer at end of shift to supervisor to facilitate preparation of violation records.
- Reports missing traffic signals or signs, or broken parking meters.
- Disseminates vehicle information to Parking Services Dispatch Center.
- Chalks tires of vehicles parked in unmetered spaces, records time, and returns at specified intervals to ticket vehicles remaining in spaces illegally.
- Tags abandoned vehicles for removal from public roadways.
- Coordinates towing of illegally parked vehicles and assists with booting vehicles due to unpaid parking tickets.
- Assists with parking at public gatherings, parades, and similar events.
- Works in extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, rainy, etc.) in provided uniforms, walking shoes and proper weather gear provided.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications - High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 1 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to use a two-way radio, iPad, and carry a hand held ticketing system.
- Valid state issued driver's license.
