Job Overview: Custom Dredge Works seeks an experienced Welding Supervisor to lead a team of 25-30 welders in fabricating dredge and mining-related products. The role involves ensuring high-quality welding output, safety compliance, and efficient workflows to meet production targets.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise 25-30 welders, providing guidance, training, and support for efficient and high-quality operations.
Monitor welding procedures, techniques, and output to ensure compliance with standards and project specifications.
Develop and implement welding procedures and processes to optimize productivity and quality.
Create schedules to maximize productivity while maintaining quality standards to meet production targets.
Conduct regular inspections and tests on welded products to ensure durability and safety compliance.
Coordinate with the Operations Manager and other departments to ensure timely project completion within budget.
Maintain accurate records of welding activities, including inventory and consumables.
Implement continuous improvement strategies to enhance welding techniques, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations, including proper equipment use and machinery operation.
Resolve technical or personnel issues in the welding department.
Assist in recruiting, training, and developing welding personnel.
Conduct yearly performance reviews for direct reports and provide guidance and instruction to the weld team.
Utilize computer skills for documentation, data analysis, and report generation.
Directly communicate with the team to provide guidance, instructions, and updates
Coordinate with other internal departments to ensure seamless workflow and collaboration.
Perform all other tasks assigned.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Welding Supervisor or similar role in industrial manufacturing.
Strong technical knowledge of welding techniques and metal properties.
Familiarity with dredge and mining equipment fabrication.
Excellent leadership and communication skills.
Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints.
Knowledge of health and safety standards.
Certification/Qualifications in welding.
Proficient in welding equipment and tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in dredge and mining product manufacturing.
Advanced welding and fabrication certifications/qualifications.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Capable of lifting and manipulating heavy equipment.
Comfortable working in high-noise environments.
