Job Description

The Senior Director (Head) of Digital Medical Affairs and Analytics will have domain expertise and leadership experience in both Medical Affairs and Digital and lead the digital transformation within Medical Affairs serving as the end-to-end program lead for large-scale strategic programs of high business value. The Head will act as a senior, strategic counselor/architect for Medical Affairs to deeply connect and closely partner with stakeholders to develop the Digital Medical Strategy and shape the digital roadmap and portfolio to deliver highest value outcomes. Engages cross-functional colleagues within DTE and Commercial to ensure Medical Affairs is able to inform requirements needed for digital tools that will be used globally for Vertex. Also provides oversight to the Medical Affairs Analytics Program, including resourcing, working closely with the Director, Medical Affairs Analytics.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Balances long-term vision with short-term delivery while making decisions to invest/build/sustain to catalyze the organization to deliver on the vision
  • Collaborate across deep and broad experts in Medical, customer experience, data and advanced analytics, information technology and customer engagement
  • Partners closely with Medical Affairs teams, DTE, Commercial and vendors forming strategic partnerships to build, pilot and scale digital initiatives and capabilities into Vertex s disease areas
  • Serves as single point of contact for Medical Affairs across digital systems and analytics
  • Effectively communicates to meet the needs of key stakeholders across teams and utilizes appropriate methods to deliver relevant and clear content and information
  • Typically leads a wide range of advanced projects and provides advice/guidance to less experienced colleagues on project support tactics
  • Inspires solutions, action and execution to enable data-driven closed loop execution
  • Builds a cohesive team culture that values empowered decision making and serves as a visionary, architect, catalyst and coach to teams (direct or matrix-managed) and peers.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, innovative environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient
  • Results-driven with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to apply sophisticated analytical thought to identify dynamic or novel solutions. Serves as technical resource for escalated complex problems.

Requirements:

  • Advanced degree required (Masters or higher in technology-related field, MBA, PharmD, PhD or MD)
  • Typically requires 12 years of relevant healthcare experience working in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with digital systems (i.e. Veeva CRM, content display solutions, Asset Management Solutions, etc)
  • Experience with deploying digital medical affairs strategies
  • Experience working with KPIs, Impact Measures and Activity Measures
  • Experience of at least 5 years leading and managing teams in a matrixed environment
