JOB SUMMARY: The Public Relations Account Supervisor plays a pivotal role within our agency, collaborating closely with the Account Director and/or Vice President in the management of Account Executives and Account Coordinators. This position demands a strategic thinker with a profound understanding of public relations, media dynamics, and client relationships. The Account Supervisor serves as the linchpin in coordinating the team's efforts to secure media hits, craft innovative client strategies, and uphold the highest levels of client satisfaction. They are a driving force in the realization of our clients' objectives and the continued success of our agency.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Media Coverage: Regularly secure regional and local media hits and adeptly demonstrate and communicate ROI.
  • Client Engagement: Independently travel for client meetings and events.
  • Client Meetings: Lead client meetings with autonomy.
  • Industry Network: Continuously build and maintain an extensive network of industry, editorial, and promotional contacts.
  • Media Relations: Maintain regular contact with media professionals via phone, email, mailings, and in-person encounters.
  • Campaign Management: Create, follow, and maintain forecasts, budgets, and effective media relations campaigns.
  • Media Trends: Stay updated on key developments in print, broadcast, and electronic media, sharing pertinent articles and trends with the team and agency.
  • Task Delegation: Effectively delegate tasks and assignments to team members.
  • Creative Input: Lead creative brainstorming sessions and contribute original ideas.
  • Team Motivation: Identify opportunities to motivate, train, and lead staff, translating strategies into action.
  • Goal Setting: Strive to set and achieve personal media placement goals.
  • Event Planning: Plan and execute successful media or special events with autonomy.
  • Client Ownership: Take ownership of multiple clients, leading day-to-day management and execution.
  • Written Materials: Write, proof, and edit a variety of PR materials.
  • Time Tracking: Accurately track time daily and proactively identify potential overages.
  • Time Analysis: Analyze timekeeping data and collaborate with Account Directors and VPs to ensure profitability.
  • Team Management: Manage workflow for account executives and coordinators, serving as a mentor.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Supervisory Ability: Ability to act as a supervisor and manage day-to-day processes on accounts.
  • Team Motivation: Proven ability to successfully motivate and develop a team.
  • Writing Skills: Demonstrate excellent writing, editing, organization, and proofreading skills.
  • Relationship Building: Exhibit outstanding client and media relations skills.
  • Organization: Demonstrate excellent organizational skills, adeptly juggling multiple tasks, prioritizing, meeting deadlines, and keeping managers informed of project statuses.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficient in using appropriate software, including Muck Rack, Google Suite, etc.
  • Collaboration: Work effectively both independently and collaboratively with team members.
  • Research Skills: Understand and utilize research techniques.
  • Professional Presentation: Present and interact professionally and strategically with clients and within the agency.
  • Innovation: Proactively seek out innovative growth opportunities and new projects.
  • Problem-Solving: Effectively, efficiently, and creatively solve problems.
  • Educational Background: Possess a Bachelor s degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
  • Agency Experience: Have five to six (5-6) years of agency experience managing multiple accounts simultaneously, demonstrating proficiency in public relations practices.


WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Physical Demands: Sitting 85% of the time, standing 15% of the time.
  • Working Hours: Typically, work hours are from 9:00 AM CST to 6:00 PM CST, Mondays through Fridays. Availability to work as needed on nights and weekends may be required.
  • Physical Ability: Capable of lifting 20-50 lbs. as necessary.
  • Manual Dexterity: Regular use of hands and fingers for computer use.
  • Sensory Function: Everyday use of vision and auditory senses, including exposure to blue light from computers.
  • Environment: Work primarily indoors in an environmentally controlled setting. However, occasional travel and the ability to work in-office and on-site for client related meetings and events may be necessary.
  • Communication: Daily communication with peers, media, and clients is essential to the role.
  • Cognitive Demands: Ability to maintain cognitive thinking and logical reasoning throughout tasks and responsibilities.
