SUMMARY
This non-exempt position under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, performs a variety of technical activities relating to the preparation, packaging and distribution of pharmaceutical products.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES PERFORMED:
- Packages products and prepares them for delivery to nursing centers
- Answers incoming telephone calls and responds to customer and long-term care staff requests
- Places orders for pharmaceutical products utilizing an automated pharmaceutical computer ordering system and establishes patient charges; expedites emergency orders as needed
- Manages infusion medication, infusion preparation supply and infusion pump inventories
- Replenishes stock and maintains IV emergency box; restocks and replenishes supplies; conducts inventories in accordance with established guidelines
- Maintains pharmaceutical related records, files, and patient profiles
- Complies with all HIPAA policies specifically relating to patient confidentiality and release of information; maintains strict confidentiality on all client information; attends staff in-services and training
REQUIREMENTS: To be considered for this opportunity applicants must have:
- High School graduation or equivalent (GED) and one (1) year infusion related pharmacy experience; preferred
- Must have a Pharmacy Technician license in good standing from the State of Georgia
- Certification as a Pharmacy Technician desirable, but not required
- Some knowledge of Federal and State laws in regulating the practice of pharmacy
- Some skill in using pharmaceutical apparatus, instruments and equipment
- Ability to read and interpret written instructions
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks with sustained attention and care
- Must be able to demonstrate typing and computer terminal use proficiency; including data entry (preferred)
- Ability to effectively communicate and present information in a clear and concise manner, both orally and in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow associates, administrators, patients and families, and the general public
