Job Details

The Department of Intramural-Recreational Sports, a division within Virginia Athletics at the University of Virginia, is seeking qualified applicants for Personal Trainer. These are part-time, wage positions with the primary purpose of directly leading personal training sessions with clients to meet the fitness interests and demands of the University community (students, faculty, staff and UVa affiliates).

Experience and skills needed include administering fitness assessments and/or consultations; designing and leading personal training sessions in an individual or group setting.

We are seeking personal trainers with the ability to fully engage with students and members in vibrant activities that promote fitness and wellness including identifying the need for and modifying movements for participant safety. Ideal candidates will have the availability to consistently work with a number of clients per semester. Personal Trainers are expected to attend regularly scheduled staff meetings and in-service sessions.

Personal Trainers are expected to establish a positive rapport and relationship with student and departmental staff, members and guests of the facility as well as promote exceptional customer service to create a positive environment for members and guests. Instructors are also expected to maintain a Standard of Excellence in professionalism and safety.

Position Compensation Range: $15.00 - $28.00 Hourly

Required Qualifications:

* Nationally recognized personal training certification such as ACE, ACSM, NASM, NSCA, etc. is required.

* Some experience administering fitness assessments and/or consultations.

* Some experience designing and leading personal training sessions in an individual or group setting.

* Ability to fully engage with students and members in vibrant activities that promote fitness and wellness.

* For participant safety, ability to identify the need for modifying movements and communicating and demonstrating these modifications to participants,

* Availability to consistently work with a number of clients per semester.

* Must have exemplary customer service skills and communication skills.

* Responsible for attending regularly scheduled staff meetings and in-service sessions.
