All positions require that the applicant be a resident of Wyandotte county or willing to relocate within (12) months from the date of hire. As a condition of employment all employees must pass a post offer physical examination and drug screen. And submit proof of identity and employment eligibility.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This is skilled repair and maintenance work to UG buildings, grounds, machinery and equipment. Duties include: build divider walls in offices and warehouse using wood or metal studs, hang, tape and finish sheetrock; install suspended ceilings, doors and windows, linoleum and carpet floors. Paint interior and exterior surfaces including staining and finishing wood; fabricate, weld and install metal stairs and handrails; repair/replace concrete and asphalt surface, water heaters, stools, lavatories, faucets, water and gas lines and all other plumbing components, light fixtures, thermostats, circuit breakers, electrical wiring and related electrical devices. Repair HVAC systems including replacement of exhaust flues, blower assemblies, gas and water valves and water circulating pumps. Repair and maintain freight elevators including safety devices, hydraulic pumps and all other components. Estimate and purchase materials and supplies. Must be able to work with minimum supervision.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or GED or vocational school; considerable experience in the related area supplemented by course work or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the following knowledge, abilities, and skills: thorough knowledge of the standard practices, methods, tools and materials of the related trade; appropriate methods for designing and completion of assigned projects; qualities and uses of various materials in the construction repair of equipment and fixtures; occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade; ability to make routine estimates of time and materials; ability to work from drawings and specifications, and to understand and carry out oral and written instructions; ability to adjust and locate defects and make appropriate repairs; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, co-workers, and other municipal employees; skill in the use of tools, materials and equipment used in the specific trade. A valid Kansas Driver's License is required.

Salary Range:

$27.18/hr.
