GENERAL SUMMARY

Provides crisis intervention, triage, risk assessment, information, and referrals to telephone callers during night, weekend, and holiday hours in accordance with Macomb County Community Mental Health (MCCMH) Crisis Center s philosophy, policies and procedures. Works collaboratively with colleagues and various service providers to assure service needs are met for consumers/patients according to clinical need, membership eligibility, benefit structure and enrollment. Responsible for operations of the crisis telephone service during assigned shifts. Performs other duties and assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides telephone crisis counseling which includes problem solving, information and referral, client advocacy, evaluating emergency situations and utilizing available resources and back up procedures.

Conducts crisis intervention and telephone triage for e Macomb County Community Mental Health for information and referral to Community Mental Health Services.

Completes a brief risk assessment to determine consumer need for routine, urgent or emergent services. Provides and/or arranges immediate assistance to patients who need emergent services.

Completes FOCUS triage screen per initial interview with consumers requesting Macomb County Community Mental Health Services.

Makes initial determination of consumer eligibility for CMH services and verifies consumers insurance through CHAMPS, WebDenis, and C-SNAP.

Completes all Macomb County Community Mental Health reports, service activity logs, time sheets, etc. according to Macomb County Community Mental Health policies and procedures.

Performs necessary case record keeping activities.

May provide a supportive role in any of the following programs: Macomb Emergency Response Group, Survivors of Suicide, and Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors, Community Education, or Volunteer Training.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education and Experience

  • Possession of a high school diploma or a certificate of successful completion of the General Educational Development Test.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a mental health setting.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • A Bachelor s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or other related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of two (2) or more years of experience in a mental health setting.

Required Licenses or Certifications

  • Possession of required experience appropriate to position and ability to meet privileging and credentialing guidelines.
  • Must possess and maintain a current Michigan Chauffer s license within 2 weeks from date of hire.
