Freight Forwarder

Job Details

Our client, an international logistics provider is looking to hire an experienced Freight Forwarding Specialist in the Washington DC/ Virginia area. This position offers hybrid working (2-3 days in office and the remainder working from home).

Main Responsibilities:

• Manage the export of shipments from start to finish
• Book air and ocean export services on behalf of customers
• Create price quotations for international freight shipments
• Provide the most efficient method of shipping
• Negotiate rates and route freight
• Process shipping documentation
• Arrange pick up and delivery of freight via air and ocean carriers
• Track shipments, keeping the customer up to date and resolving any issues that arise
• Liaise with carriers, agents, Customs Brokers and air and ocean terminal operators

Key Requirements:

• 2+ years export freight forwarding experience is required
• Air or ocean freight experience is required
• Must have export compliance knowledge and experience
• Experience routing freight and preparing price quotations for air and ocean freight
• Strong communication skills are essential
• Proficient computer knowledge is required
