Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, performs a variety of instructional and general clerical duties pertaining to the operation and maintenance of a flexible elementary computer program. Assist in creating an environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for computer education in accordance with each pupil's ability; and to establish good relationships with the community and other staff members.

DEFINITION:

Under general supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, performs a variety of instructional and general clerical duties pertaining to the operation and maintenance of a flexible elementary computer program. Assist in creating an environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for computer education in accordance with each pupil's ability; and to establish good relationships with the community and other staff members.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish a positive learning environment for computer instruction to students
  • Maintain and operate a computer lab
  • Coordinate, refine, and integrate computer curriculum technology with teachers
  • Assist principal in managing computer budget and computer education program at the site
  • Help recruit, train and coordinate volunteers
  • Inventory, order, evaluate, maintain and troubleshoot hardware and software
  • Manage site licenses, copyrights, and appropriate computer use agreements
  • Keep current in technology that relates to curriculum
  • Establish and maintain excellent interpersonal relations with all school stakeholders
  • Problem solve with students, staff, and parents
  • Other duties as assigned
ABILITY TO:

  • Establish and maintain accurate computer assisted instruction lab records and files
  • Use and assist others with the use and maintenance of basic school computer programs and hardware
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties
  • Organize and implement planned activities with minimal supervision
  • Troubleshoot equipment commonly used in a computer lab and classroom workstations
  • Sit, stand, walk, lift objects of weight up to 50 lbs., push, pull, drag and grasp objects
EXPERIENCE:
  • Two years experience working with micro computers.
  • Two years active involvement with youth in a K-8 and/or community program.
  • Mac experience as it relates to hardware and software.
EDUCATION:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associates Degree in technology preferred
  • Minimum of one year computer-related experience, and/or any combination of experience and coursework in such areas as installation, configuration, troubleshooting and repair of computer hardware, software, and peripheral devices, preferably in a networked environment
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • Successful candidate will be required to complete a background and fingerprint clearance through the Department of Justice and the FBI.

Requirements / Qualifications

Two years experience working with micro computers.

EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent
Associates Degree in technology preferred
