Job Details

Summary: Similar to a traditional Loan Officer in the mortgage industry, our Funding Officer position acts as the primary point of contact with clients, guiding them from new lead through post-funding. Funding Officers also work internally to structure prospective transactions and progress them to completion. They analyze the value of a client s pending inheritance, structure appropriate contract terms, present findings to the internal Due Diligence team, and satisfy all requirements for funding requested by our underwriting committee.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:


  • As an inside sales position, Funding Officers handle a set portion of leads generated via centralized marketing efforts.
  • Funding Officers must maintain an evolving pipeline of potential clients to actively pursue prospects and process potential clients as quickly as possible.
  • During an initial phone consultation with prospective clients, the Funding Officer will introduce and explain the benefits of our service, and of working specifically with IFC.
  • Analyze all assets, liabilities, and current status of the estate from which the client is inheriting.
  • Determine and verify the likely inheritance value due specifically to the client upon distribution of the estate.
  • Obtain necessary legal documents to verify findings. This includes the online probate court docket, wills, trusts, probate pleadings, and other relevant documents.
  • Structure and present appropriate transaction terms to the client including pricing and timelines.
  • Present all findings and transaction terms to Due Diligence and satisfy any and all internal underwriting requirements for funding.
  • Once internal approval is granted, draw up final contracts and walk the client through contract execution.
  • Maintain and utilize a system for following up with past clients who may qualify for subsequent advances.


Competency & Experience:


  • 2+ years of proven sales and customer service experience.
  • Inheritance/Probate experience is neither required nor expected
  • Lending and/or Financial Services industry experience preferred.
  • As the main point of contact with our clients, language skills are extremely important. Proper conversational grammar should be combined with a trustworthy, kind, helpful tone.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common financial statements, contracts, and legal documents.
  • Strong typing skills required. Diligent, real-time notes and database management are required.
  • Extensive experience and skill working in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
