Manufacturing Assistant Supervisor


Job Details

This position is responsible for the day-to-day shift manufacturing operations. Incumbent will have responsibility to achieve safety, quality, productivity, customer service, morale, methodical problem solving and overall equipment efficiency (OEE) objectives through both individual and team contributions. Provides direction, leadership and support to employees. This is a front line position where the majority of the time (approximately 85%) is to be spent in the production areas.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Ensure a safe, productive, and respectful work environment, enforcing safety practices and company policies.
  • Supervise production activities to meet schedules, facilitating effective shift handoffs and communication.
  • Manage raw materials and inventory to maintain production schedules, communicating issues promptly to leaders and vendors.
  • Coordinate daily staffing, schedules, and labor requirements, overseeing attendance records alongside a supervisor.
  • Train and coach employees, promoting positive relations and fostering innovation and problem-solving.
  • Collaborate with site leaders and departments, conduct team meetings, drive improvement, and ensure compliance with EEO regulations.


Supervision Received
Reports directly to the Production Superintendent; may receive direction and information from Production Supervisors. May also receive direction and tasking from the Director of Manufacturing or other leadership.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Provides daily support, direction, and tasking to assigned team. Coaches and provides on-the-spot feedback to employees and may write and issue disciplinary action; elevates employee issues to the Manufacturing Supervisor. Does not have direct reports.

qualifications
  • Two years' experience in a manufacturing environment, and a two-year degree in a related field; or overall equivalent. Food or pharmaceutical industry preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management experience; proven ability to motivate a team
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations (e.g., FDA, USDA) and HACCP principles
  • Proven leadership, management, and people development skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills at all levels
  • Ability to think strategically and convert strategy into action.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; ability to learn and utilize other systems effectively
  • Ability to become forklift certified and operate other equipment as needed
  • Ability to work varying shifts, weekends and overtime required


Working Conditions & Salary

OFD contains office, manufacturing and outdoor workspaces where this position is required to access and work. The position requires a person to be able to frequently walk, stand and climb; bend and twist; see, hear and talk; use hands to type, handle or feel tools, controls; use hands and arms to reach, hold and carry tools or items. Lifting/moving up to 40lbs is also required. This position also requires a person to handle environments of varied temperatures and with various food allergens present; and be comfortable at various heights.

Salary Range $75k-85k (Exempt)
