JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for general maintenance of all facilities on property and the property itself. Identify, diagnose, and repair items related to maintenance of such facilities.
  • Responsible for general upholstery work and maintenance including furniture and for maintaining, repairing, and replacing gaming table layouts. Identify repair/replacement need, diagnose repair resources needed, and analyze preventative maintenance needs.
  • Diagnose the need for and perform all duties related to advanced to expert level painting, plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and other projects relating to maintenance of the property.
  • Perform routine maintenance of the HVAC system, alarm system, and generators. Identify and diagnose problems with the systems, repair as necessary and take measures to correct deficiencies.
  • Identify repair/replacement need, diagnose repair resources needed, analyze the need for preventative maintenance, design a schedule of such maintenance and perform preventative maintenance as scheduled.
  • Ensure the safety and security of all guests and employees.
  • Safely operate all types of hand tools, two-way radios, power tools, and machinery (such as bucket truck, forklift, sky trac, safety equipment, etc.) that relate to the function of a maintenance shop.
  • Safe use of chemicals used in maintenance. Proper use of personal protective equipment.
  • Operate all lawn equipment including riding tracker, weed eater, golf cart, gator and perform basic grounds keeping.
  • Keep work area in clean and organized.
  • Answer all calls promptly and maintain politeness; pay attention to the needs of employees and guests at all times, and communicates all emergencies to the manager.
  • Answers the department cell phone when needed as assigned by the shift manager as part of your daily duties, and communicates information to the manager or shift manager.
  • Completes all company-required training within designated time frames.
  • Provide mentoring and leadership to Tech I and II.
  • Have complete knowledge of all casino events and promotional activities.
  • Understand and adhere to all Iowa Racing Gaming Commission regulations and any other applicable federal, state and/or local regulations.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures established by Isle of Capri Casino and departmental management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or any reasonable request from any member of management.

Physical Demands

  • May work in confined areas.
  • Exposed to hot and cold temperatures.
  • Exposed to varied weather conditions, fumes and chemicals used in maintenance.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Physical Conditions- stand and walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands to arms; balance; stoop, kneel, bend or crouch; climb; and talk and hear.

Mental Demands

  • Able to work varied hours which include nights, weekends and holidays.

Work Environment

  • Ability to work in a brightly lit, smoke filled casino environment with above average noise levels.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • No minimum required.

Training/Experience:

  • Six to ten years of experience in facilities maintenance or 4+ years as a Maintenance Technician I or II or a combination of education/experience is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license and maintain motor vehicle record.

Job Knowledge

  • Knowledge of OSHA required standards and safety requirements. Knowledge of personal protective equipment.
  • Advanced to expert knowledge of the HVAC system, alarm system, and generators. Ability to diagnose problems with the systems and repair as necessary.
  • Advanced to expert level knowledge of painting, plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and other projects relating to maintenance of the property.
  • Ability to use all necessary tools and equipment to perform maintenance functions.
  • Ability to use all equipment associated with the position, including, but not limited to, computer keyboard and telephone.
  • Ability to diagnose the need for and perform advanced to expert level painting, plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and other projects relating to maintenance of the property.
  • Ability to mentor and lead Maintenance Technician I and II.

Other

  • Ability to read, write, and understand simple instructions and building plans in English.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests and all levels of employees.
  • Must be able to receive and maintain all required certification.
  • Must complete all required company training.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
