Job Opportunity: VP of Research & Development

The Role: Reporting directly to the CEO, this executive position is pivotal in leading the R&D initiatives focused on synthetic biology and DNA synthesis technologies. The ideal candidate is an experienced R&D leader, deeply passionate about biotechnology innovations and adept at spearheading teams towards significant scientific breakthroughs.
Responsibilities:
- Strategically collaborate with the CEO and key platform teams to enhance the technological capabilities of the DNA synthesis platform, driving both in-house project advancements and external collaborations.
- Develop strategic roadmaps to analyze the synthetic biology landscape, aligning R&D efforts with the overarching business objectives of the company.
- Expand the scientific talent pool and infrastructure to sustain leadership in innovation and technological advancements.
- Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with key stakeholders in the biotechnology sector, including academic leaders, industry experts, and potential commercial partners.
- Champion a culture of scientific excellence and innovation, creating an environment conducive to the development of breakthrough technologies.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Ph.D. in Biotechnology, Bioengineering, or a related field, complemented by at least 10 years of significant industry experience.
- Expertise in synthetic biology, particularly in DNA synthesis technologies, from concept through commercialization.
- Proven track record in leading R&D teams and managing large-scale scientific projects and collaborations.
- Exceptional strategic thinking and entrepreneurial skills, with a robust ability to navigate the complexities of the biotech industry.
- Strong communication skills, with the capacity to effectively convey complex scientific strategies to a diverse audience.
